New Herbal Essences Dangerously Straight Pin Straight Shampoo and Conditioner Review

Finally Looking like I'm Put Together

Stephanie Armstrong
I have thick, wavy hair that I like to curl, but most of the time my hair falls flat within an hour or too. On the flip side, my hair can be unruly when I try to wear it straight and use a flat iron.

No matter what I do, I have tons of flyaways and my hair never seems to look smooth and sleek. It always looks a little frizzy and I am often on the prowl for a salon-quality product that will tame my wild hair.

I was given the opportunity to try out Herbal Essences Dangerously Straight Pin Straight shampoo and conditioner before the latest formula hit store shelves. I tucked the flat iron away and put this new shampoo to the test.

Dangerously Straight Pin Straight Shampoo and Conditioner Together
The shampoo has a honeyed pear and silk scent that smells good, but not too fruity. It smells crisp and clean. The bottle promises that this shampoo "lays hair down with a sleek shine." I first tested the shampoo and conditioner together without using my Fekkai Glossing Cream and noticed that I didn't have any flyaways after blow drying my hair.

I couldn't believe it so I let my hair air dry the following day. My hair was a little wavy, but there were still no flyaways and I added a spritz of hairspray to complete my look. I really loved how using both products made my hair look polished and put together.

I also tested the shampoo out with my regular Aveda Smooth Infusion conditioner. My hair was very soft and didn't feel that greasy. My hair can get oily after a long day, but I was pleasantly surprised that it felt pretty clean for a long time.

Only Using the Pin Straight Conditioner
I tried Herbal Essences Dangerously Straight Pin Straight conditioner with Pantene Pro-V Fine Hair Solutions Flat to Volume shampoo when I wanted to wear my hair straight and it just felt too heavy. My hair was definitely pin straight that day, but it lacked that volume that Pantene Pro-V had promised. My hair just couldn't win with this combination, but the conditioner worked great when I used Head and Shoulders.

Does Herbal Essences Dangerously Straight Pin Straight Really Work?
The conditioner is the flyaway killer. I tried to use the conditioner with my Fekkai Glossing Cream and it just weighed my hair down. It was like my hair had a straightening overload. I would definitely buy the shampoo and conditioner and use them together. They make it easy for me to just blow dry and go without having to take that extra step and iron.
