This laptop weighs about 3 lbs and can be taken anywhere with ease. According to HP it has a built in Protect Smart Hard Drive Protection which detects if the laptop is dropped. It then locks the hardrive to help protect data. It contains a 1080p lcd, three usb ports, one vga and a hdmi port for connecting an external monitor or HD TV (available with dedicated graphics option) .This all sounds very good. A laptop with great memory and ultra portable, but are there any cons? Yes unfortunately, but easily overlooked for what you're getting. If you're not planning to spend thousands for a laptop right now, the battery life is the pretty much the only con, it's a 6 cell battery that lasts about 4hrs and if the laptop is sitting on your lap, it tends to get very hot. I say invest in a laptop cooler, and you're good to go. It's a keeper for me.
The external optical drive that's available with Blu-ray disc support or light scribe double-layer DVD±R/RW support may or may not be a good fit for someone that prefers a built in one. It really doesn't bother me since I rarely watch DVDs on it, but when I do watch it, it won't be too much of a hassle; all I will have to do would be to connect it to the port, and I'm ready to watch my movie. This laptop is at the price of 699, it was on sale for 635 and I will get a 50 dollar rebate. Skip the netbook and opt for an in between. It's definitely more of a laptop but more portable.
