New Jack's Fries - Dress Them Up, Change Their Shape, but It's Still Fat and Calories

Fries Are Fat, Calories, and Sodium No Matter How Crisp and Tasty!

An article recently in the business section highlighted that Jack's were introducing their 'new' fries. I love it. When a food or drug is getting too much bad press, in comes marketing to the rescue. In the "losing profits' game, you must come up with a new strategy to raise company profits. New, improved, new box, new shape, new slogan,or new cute cuddly icons all are utilized with profit raising results. We just take the advertising in subconsciously, we don't think. The ads featuring the smiling, happy faces of children eating 'happy meals' and fries fills your heart with joy. They love 'happy meals'. Your child is already overweight, but their persistence ends you up at the drive in. So another 'Happy Meal' and a few more pounds. Jack loves the sound of the cash register pushing up profits.

Fries of late have had some bad press. It's hard for marketing to put them on the 'good for you' food list, when they are packed with huge amounts of fat, calories, and salt. Jack's natural cut fries have been slow sellers. The sale of fries make up a good percentage of fast food profits. Jack's old fries were not well received by consumers who wanted crispier, thinner, fat loaded fries. So now Jack's has introduced their new fries. The article says that their new fries,"feature a light potato coating which results in a tastier and crispier fry." This comment comes from Brain Luscomb who is the spokesman for Jack in the Box. He then states that the calorie and fat content will be the same. So there you have it, it will taste better but still clog your arteries. That certainly is an improvement. I suppose that if you are going to spend $1.39 to clog your arteries, you might as well clog it with a better tasting, crisper fry.

Fries, burgers, and shakes are one of the main reasons we are an obese society in America. It is why little toddlers are obese at 3 years old. The McDonald's Happy Meal including fries and a coke has certainly been a boon to obesity. Make them happy while killing them with fat, sugar, and calories. They will have serious heart disease by the time they are 30 or sooner. This makes the pharmaceutical companies overjoyed. More clogged arteries and heart disease....great....more drug sales and profit.

Why isn't there more advertising against hamburgers and fries. Why don't they show pictures daily of an artery clogged with fat or a heart compromised by the foods we eat. I was given a very effective demonstration in a seminar years ago. They had a material that looked like fat and weighed 10 pounds. They had us all carry around that blob of fake fat for the duration of the seminar to make a point. Even 10 or 20 pounds of fat makes a difference in your health and quality of your life.

I am sick of television advertising promoting the sale of prescription drugs, fast food, and junk cereal. This advertising is working because Americans and their toddlers are getting heavier by the year. This will equate into billions of dollars in health care costs and a loss of quality of life. It is your life and you do have choices. These choices will enable you to be healthy and live a long life or a life filled with prescription drugs treating heart and cholesterol disease.

There are so many heart healthy choices but hamburgers and fries are not one of them. Don't let junk food advertising compromise your heart and life.
