New Jersey Beauty Queen Amy Polumbo Fights Back

To the delight of news viewers everywhere Amy Polumbo has been covered extensively on mainstream media news outlets recently. It seems that other issues facing this country such as war, talk of universal health care, classified intelligence leaks from the Bush administration (again), new terror tapes with Osama Bin Laden starring in a minor role, and Taliban militants calling off a ceasefire with Pakistan were not as newsworthy as this poor woman's predicament. The country became focused on the newest beauty pageant scandal.

Who is Amy Polumbo? Ms. Polumbo is the current Miss New Jersey. She will be representing her state the next Miss America contest. She is now a worthy "news" story because of a scandal involving blackmail, lurid pictures, and the potential loss of her crown. It seems the internet blackmailer was demanding she relinquish her crown or the tawdry pictures would be made public. How enticing for the general public.

Amy Polumbo is a fighter, though. She decided not to succumb to blackmailing. She opted to fight back! Ms. Polumbo made her rounds on the news shows, garnering much public attention and sympathy. America was behind Ms. Polumbo and she gathered her strength for an act of bravery and courage. She released the photos herself! She pre-empted the would-be thugs and exposed the truth while retaining her crown. Her pictures were put on the net for all to see! And see they did! That's right! I have seen more scandalous pictures in high school yearbooks. Paris Hilton practically making out with a cheeseburger in that commercial makes Amy Polumbo look like Mary Poppins. What was all the hype? The suspense? Why the need to inundate the news and make people actually care?

Ms. Polumbo should be given community service for the total waste of time and energy she forced upon the public. This story was almost as mind numbingly stupid as The Runaway Bride in Georgia! At least Ms. Polumbo was not running around with a blanket on her head. My dear, we have people missing in this country. We have American troops and contractors dying in war. We have what appears to be an epidemic of autism- numbers are especially high in New Jersey coincidentally. And we needed to know all about your silly college pictures because? I can say one thing- I'm not shocked that Amy Polumbo is majoring in Drama. She should do very well. And now that Amy Polumbo is well known to all, I'm certain this stunt will not hurt her chances in her bid for Miss America. Any wagers on who will probably be a runner-up? If not the winner of the crown?
