New Judges Officially Announced for Season 10 of American Idol

After much speculation the new American Idol judges have finally been announced. Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez, and Randy Jackson have been named as judges for the 10th season. Peter Rice, Chairman of Entertainment for Fox networks Group made the announcement. This leaves Jackson the only returning judge.

Jimmy Iovine will also be joining the show as an in house mentor. Iovine is the chairman of Interscope Geffen A&M Records. He is a successful music producer, co-founder of Beats Audio, and a prolific man in the music world. He has worked with some of the biggest artists like Dr. Dre, Eminem, Sheryl Crow, Stevie Nicks, John Lennon, Bruce Springsteen, and Dire Straits. To name a few of the many careers he has already help shape.

This season Idol plans to go behind the scenes showcasing Iovine working one on one with the contestants. This should give the audience a better look at each contestant as they grow and develop into their full potential. And provide fans with a better connection to the contestants as they are mentored by Iovine.

This could easily inspire a larger group of fans and voters. Making the competition much stiffer in terms of expectations, and making it through to the next level.

Interscope Geffen will also be promoting, marketing, and distributing albums from American Idol finalists and winners. They hope to broaden the shows marketing appeal by using new media platforms.

The creator of the show is Simon Fuller, who has returned as executive producer. He promises surprises and positive changes for the new season.

The 10th season of American Idol will premiere January 2011 on FOX. Just in time to celebrate the shows tenth anniversary.
