New Linens

When Life is Getting Worn Out and You Feel Sick and Tired of Being Sick and Tired...it's Time to Change

T
Time to wash my laundry
And take off worn
Clothes soiled heavily in mud
And miry clay, breaching the spirit
Leaching the linings of my soul.
- Off with the shirt stained callous,
Jeans walking my way,
A hat that conforms to my thinking,
Socks hiding tired feet traversing
The pendulum, asking Father
Time why it fades opaque?
Why we are stained
Soiled in mud
Carelessly living our days?
Then I reckon why this is,
With dilated eyes and eternity in view,
- So I close them.
Pendulum stops and feet walk
Down the beach, washing.
While sun is retiring,
Lips move to heart strings of sweet chanted melody
Hymns crescendo with the waves,
And I see there is more
To our time.
The sky whispering the creator
Draws me in.
My footsteps lead me back
To baptism -
The washing is done,
As I frame the new linens of my rebirth.
A revitalizing grace.
