Although Garruk vs. Liliana was announced back in June, and product images were available in July, it wasn't until Monday October 19th that decklists were made available.
Liliana's deck can start with early beaters such as Ghost-Lit Stalker and Vampire Bats in the one drop and then lead into a Phrexian Rager .
Two Sign in Bloods help for some early card advantage in this deck, and that is very important becuase It isn't until later turns that the creature quaility gets better.
Twisted Abomination rounds out the mana curve.
An alternate art Mutilate and an alternate art Snuff out make for some stylish creature control.
Bad Moon is a welcome rare in this deck, and skeletal Vampire can get nasty when paired with it.
Fleshbag Marauder interacts well with the bat tokens.
Other notable cards include a pair of Corrupts that can be used as further creature removal or as a game finisher when thrown at the face of an opponent.
Rise from the Grave is very powerful in this deck as well as the lone Enslave, due to the creature quality in Garruk's deck when played against eachother.
Garruk's deck succinctly highlights green's powerful creatures and spells.
There are plenty of early threats in Garruk's deck, and if an opponent doesn't find removal it can be game over quick.
Basking Rootwalla, Albino Troll, and Wild Mongrel are all very efficient in the early turns of the game. When paired with one of theo two Rancors that are in the deck, they can still be powerful threats later on.
The two alternate art Blastoderms play nice with the Ravenous Baloth, allowing one to sacrifice them for life before they die due to having no more fading counters.
harmonizeprovides card drawing that green normally doesn't have, netting more threats and drawing into one of this decks two main finishers.
Between Overrun and Rude Awakening, there should be no problem for one to deal those last points of damage, should the game long.
For players of Magic Online, Garruk vs. Liliana will not be available from the store until November 7th. It is important to note that there will be seven cards that are not already available to play with: Albino Troll, Blastoderm, Rancor,Invigorate, Slippery Karst, Snuff Out, and Polluted Mire. They are all likely to see play in Singleton formats such as Commander and 100 Card Singleton. However Rancor and Snuff Out could both potentially see play in Classic.
It does not matter if you play casually or competitively, Duel Decks Garruk vs. Liliana holds something for everyone, with a good mix of notable cards throughout Magic's history. At an MSRP of $19.99, it is a steal given its contents.
