The NX200 platform incorporates Chipnuts recent C7280 multi-core mobile application processor with the SmartNX Mobile operating system; the combination of the two allows easy smart phone development. Chipnuts' platform and mobile operating system provides mobile phone designers and manufacturers a total solution multimedia application processor, operating system, mainstream application software, product design reference, and testing, manufacturing as well as development related tools. These solutions can lower technical and business difficulties and shortens product developers' time to market, decreasing the total cost for owning smart phone devices.
David Hu, CEO of Chipnuts said that for years Chipnuts tried to develop China's own smart phone platform and operating system and now that the NX200 and SmartNX Mobile has successfully been launched, it has demonstrated Chipnuts' effort and commitment and also strengthened China's innovative capabilities. "We hope through the use of our new products, consumers from all levels can enjoy the convenience, power, and practicality brought by smart phones, making China the country with highest smart phone penetration," Hu commented.
The NX200 platform can incorporate most smart phone software like Office applications, Internet browsers, instant messaging, push email, and high end security software like SmartShield super hiding, SmartShadow intelligent tracking and remote control, a two-way conversation recorder that can record conversations at real-time, and a voice transformer. Chipnuts also added a Chinese stock software called Dazhihui. Chipnuts hopes that the introduction of the NX200 platform and the SmartNX Mobile operating system will enhance the competitiveness of the Chinese smart phone industry and help it move toward a global market.
Earlier this year, at the 3GSM World Congress in Barcelona, Chipnuts had on display the C7280 and SmartNX operating system and called it the Solution-on-Chip, only then, the company's plan to market the platform and operating system was still underway.
Currently, most smart phones out in the market manufactured by Nokia, Motorola, and Samsung has Symbian operating systems though some models from Motorola and Samsung have Windows Mobile, Treo smart phones have the Palm OS, while Blackberry phones have their own proprietary operating system developed by RIM.
