New No Doubt Song Released Online; Fans Rejoice as Gwen Stefani Returns with New Single
No Doubt Has Covered an Adam and the Ants Song Called Stand and Deliver with an Interesting Rendition
No Doubt had been making ska music for a while, and put out a couple of albums that were well-received, but didn't gain the band a whole lot of attention on a large scale. In 1995 that all changed though, when the California based band released Tragic Kingdom, and quickly became one of the most popular bands in the country. The first single off of Tragic Kingdom was Just a Girl, which allowed lead singer Gwen Stefani to really showcase her energy and got many young music fans hooked on the anthem. They followed that up by releasing Spiderwebs as a single, and the popularity of No Doubt continued to grow.
It was the third single off of Tragic Kingdom that rocketed the group to superstardom, when Don't Speak hit the airwaves, and fans got a new look at the group. The ballad was actually written about Gwen and former band-member Kanal braking up, and ended up sitting at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 for 16 straight weeks. It was an amazing coming out party for the band, and garnered them Grammy nominations, Grammy awards, and a series of platinum certifications for the album that eventually allowed it to go to diamond status in 1999. Sixteen million albums later, it sits as one of the highest selling albums of all time now. Unfortunately the group decided to go their separate ways after a couple of more albums, and Gwen Stefani tried out a solo career.
With the news that No Doubt would be back out on tour, excitement started to grow about a possible new album, and now No Doubt has released a 2009 tour schedule (below). Along with that is the hope of new songs, and this first single is hopefully just the tip of the iceberg. For fans of No Doubt, their rendition of Stand and Deliver is very entertaining, and shows what the group was really like before they became so big. It is a great way for the group to not only return to the spotlight, but also to return to their musical roots, and the song is not only performed well, but quite catchy. The single also denotes that No Doubt is officially back, and that its safe to buy those No Doubt summer concert tickets.

Post a CommentTony Kanal is not a "former band member." He is still with the band.
Meh, Gwen is past her prime. Her older stuff rocked but the newer stuff and solo efforts leave a lot to be desired.
I've been listening to No Doubt since they were Kinda Certain.
