New Orleans Mardi Gras and the Who Dat Nation: New Orleans Saints Are Super Bowl XLIV Champions - Saints Defeat the Colts 31 - 17

The city of New Orleans has something to be proud of, the New Orleans Saints have finally won a Super Bowl, and it has been a long awaited celebration for a city that has endured so much in the last four years. Drew Brees has been designated as the MVP of Super Bowl XLIV, and it may be a title he deserves, but he would not have achieved this if it were not for their field goal kicker Garrett Hartley.

The Saints were behind in the first two quarters, their 10 point deficit would not deter the Saints from fighting back to achieve their goal of winning Super Bowl XLIV. Joseph Addai had a great game, and it was his no fumble running game that kept the Saints defense wondering if Peyton was using his running back as a decoy to get his wide receivers a chance to score a touchdown or two.

There have never been two quarterbacks in NFL history that have thrown for 4,000 yards in a regular season to go on to appear in a Super Bowl. Drew Brees is tied with New England Patriots QB Tom Brady for most passes thrown in a Super Bowl, Brees completed 32 out of 39 passes, and his efficiency rating was above 80%.

Coach Sean Payton was the brain child that set Saints Super Bowl run in motion; his discipline is what helps the Saints win Super Bowl XLIV. Coach Sean Payton bold move to kick an onside kick in the opening third quarter was an ingenious play to give the Saints the edge their offense needed to keep Peyton Manning off of the field.

It seems that defensive players definitely come up with big plays in Super Bowl games, and this is no exception to this year Super Bowl. The fate of the game was sealed when Corner Back Tracy Porter intercepted Peyton Manning driving presumed pass, it was his only interception of the game, and it was a most costly one indeed.

Even though Peyton Manning threw for 333 yards - it was not enough to win the game, and now his Super Bowl record is 1-1, and Drew Brees record is 1-0. Only time will tell if the Saints can repeat their phenomenal 2009 season. The Saints can now put all of their critics to rest, and the who dat nation is now recognized as Super Bowl champs of 2010.
