New Orleans Saints 2010 NFL Draft Grade

Analysis of the 2010 New Orleans Saints Draft Picks

Randy Inman
Thanks for checking out New Orleans Saints 2010 NFL draft day grade. I will offer analysis of each 2010 NFL draft pick by the Saints and a grade at the end of this article. I felt the Saints 2010 NFL draft needs were on defense and possibly a quarterback to groom for backup duty. Feel free to comment on my New Orleans Saints 2010 NFL draft grade, below.

The only disadvantage to winning the Super Bowl is picking last in the NFL draft. But I still think the Saints made a quality first round pick. Patrick Robinson the corner out of Florida State will help the Saints nickel defense at worst, and at best give the team another young starter with Malcolm Jenkins.

Big 6ft 5 offensive tackle Charles Brown from USC gives the New Orleans Saints a talented young lineman. I always say you can't have too many linemen on either side of the ball.

Jeremy Graham gives the New Orleans Saints a 6ft 6 target at tight end. Graham like Jeremy Shockey is a Miami Hurricane. The Saints were able to draft for depth and a look into their future with this pick.

Al Woods the defensive tackle from LSU gets to stay in Louisiana for his NFL career as well. Woods has the size and skill to be a valuable contributor to the Saints defensive line rotation right off the bat.

In round 5 of the 2010 NFL draft, the Saints selected Mark Tennant the center from Boston College. At 6ft 5 Tennant may be a little tall for a center, especially with Drew Brees behind him.

Round 7 gave the Saints a decent developmental quarterback in Sean Canfield out of Oregon. Canfield is smart but weak armed and a year on the practice squad would do him a world of good. Look for the Saints to pick up a veteran quarterback though if Mark Brunell does not resign, or blows a ham string dragging his old ass out of bed at training camp.

I give the Saints a solid B for picking Robinson and Brown with the first two picks and adding depth through the draft.
