New Orleans Summer Restaurant Guide

T. H. Pankey
One of the greatest culinary cities in the United States, if you hadn't already known, is New Orleans. In part, this is due to the major port of call New Orleans always has been. Many foodstuffs from around the world have made their way into the U.S., first coming through New Orleans. While there are plenty more reasons why New Orleans is such an eating city than what's enumerated here, one more reason is the amount of restaurants or just plain ole' eating joints available to residents and visitors alike. It's been estimated there are more eating establishments per square mile per capita than anywhere else in the U.S. Following is a New Orleans summer restaurant guide, which will lead you to restaurants serving up sophisticated summertime French cuisine through finger-lickin' fare, and found anywhere throughout the New Orleans metro area.

New Orleans Summertime Restaurant ( French Cuisine )

Pointing out a really nice restaurant in New Orleans when there are so many choices ,and you're not familiar with the restaurants in the Crescent City, can be a bit overwhelming. When narrowing down your restaurant choice for that once-in-a-lifetime dinner you're planning, it makes sense to consider one of the primary things New Orleans is known for, its French heritage and the French Quarter. French cuisine in New Orleans has no equal throughout the U.S. Simply, cordon blue chefs and restaurateurs take it to nouveau heights in this Old French city.

Might I point out Louis XIV in the heart of the Quarter for your consideration.

New Orleans Summertime Restaurant ( Seafood )

Louisiana native Indians primarily used to live north of Lake Pontchartrain because the balance of everything south of it was more water than land; but when they wanted to stock up on seafood, south toward the area where New Orleans is now located is where they went. It's no different today: seafood can be had all over the Big Easy. In fact, scouting out an eating place that doesn't serve up some sort of seafood is more of a task than fishin' one up that does. New Orleanians love seafood, and one of their favorite meals is a shrimp po-boy.

Check out Short Stop Poboys for a quick tasty battered shrimp on fantastic French poboy bread.

New Orleans Summertime Restaurant ( Burgers )

To some, Port O' Call sounds a lot like a restaurant that's going to serve up food from around the world. But to others, it sounds like a eatery much like what it is: a popular hole-in-the-wall where the last thing would be sailors and merchant mariners want to eat is food from around the world or food from the sea; a place where you can get an excellent piece of beef or burger and a great baked potato. Direct yourself to Port O'Call if you want one of the best burger and stuffed baked potatoes you'll ever eat.

New Orleans Summertime Restaurant ( Seafood )

Hey! You didn't think a city that loves seafood so much was going to only have one place mentioned where you can net some great seafood, did you? This one is more for the dress up occasion than the dress down sashay. What's more, eating here is eating New Orleans classic creole fare: Arnaud's Speckled Trout Meunière certainly is one of the dishes you eat when eating a classic New Orleans creole seafood dish.
