New Parody Book "Going Rouge" Lampoons Sarah Palin's Memoir "Going Rogue"

To coincide with the November 17 release of Sarah Palin much-anticipated memoir book "Going Rogue: An American Life," an independent publisher is releasing a spoof entitled "Going Rouge: An American Nightmare" on the same day.

As reported by The Guardian, "Going Rouge: An American Nightmare," published by OR Books and edited by Richard Kim and Betsy Reed, will parody the Sarah Palin memoir, being loose with the facts about the former vice-presidential nominee's time spent on the campaign trail, her ideals, and the various quirks already exposed in the media.

The book is available to order on OR Books' website, which has the Sarah Palin spoof book available as both a paperback and an e-book. The blurb for the book on the website claims "Going Rouge", in a rather tongue-in-cheek fashion, that it is "most honest, revealing account of the Palin story to appear this fall."

Certainly, the spoof itself was written pretty quickly. Sarah Palin's announcement of the book's title was only a few months ago. It is possible that an unauthorized parody of her biography was in the works already, and the publishers got a lucky break from the announcement of Palin's own memoirs.

"Going Rouge: An American Nightmare" might possibly be the hit gag gift of the Christmas season, as some unsuspecting gift recipients will first think it is Palin's actual book. The style of the fake book's cover is remarkably close, although there is a dark storm with lightning behind it. They might not realize it is a parody book until they see the play on words, which refers to Sarah Palin's pageant past and the effect her looks had on the campaign.

Some critics of the book may argue that the book is capitalizing on Sarah Palin's own memoirs, but Palin's own memoirs are a result of capitalizing on her own fame. Some suspect the former Alaska governor resigned early because there was more money to be had in the public sector, and she is certainly now on the campaign trail for high book sales. Sarah Palin will appear on the Oprah Winfrey show on November 16, a day before the book's release, expecting the Oprah Winfrey bump to push her book to the top of the bestseller list.

Either way, any extra publicity works for the publishers of both books. Sarah Palin gets her name out there even more, thanks to a small publisher, and the small publisher gets some residual sales based on the love-her or hate-her attitude most Americans have towards the former would-be vice-president.

There is now a stupid book that makes fun of this book. It is called "Going Disrespectful - An American Nightmare" and it is available at lulu.com. What a bunch of losers for defending this stupid woman.
