New Pathogen,Roundup Ready,GMOs. The Report You Didn't See on TV
Huber Warns Vilsack. Wants Moratorium
Huber explains that he and many other scientists have found and are investigating a previously unknown organism visible only with an electron microscope (36,000x). It appears to be a micro fungal type of organism and is the first ever identified.
Scientists have found high concentrations of this organism in Roundup Ready soybean meal, distillers meal and corn. It is also in fermentation feed products, pig and cattle placentas and pig stomach contents. Lab tests have also confirmed its presence in livestock who have had spontaneous abortions and infertility problems.
Dairy heifers are experiencing over 20% fertility problems. And cows are having spontaneous abortions at the rate of 45%. If you think you can alleviate the problem by not feeding grain, the answer is no. Weed management on hay, wheat etc. that are going to be fed to animals may have been sprayed with glyphosate (Roundup).
In the same herd, 1,000 pregnant heifers were fed wheatlege that had been sprayed for weed control with glyphosate. 450 heifers aborted. Another 1,000 pregnant heifers were fed hay that was not sprayed with it. No spontaneous abortions in that group.
Huber says that spontaneous cattle abortions have been on the rise in the United States' cattle, dairy, swine and horse operations. The words "reaching epidemic proportions" were used. Have I got your attention yet? The organism is also in plants. 40 diseases have been linked to it. They are in plants that have SDS (sudden death syndrome) and Goss' wilt (found in corn).
The big push for GMO and Roundup Ready crops was to raise yields to feed the world. It appears from Huber's shocking letter that yields are going the other way. They are dropping and on top of that, livestock and possibly humans are reaping the side affects. Huber says that humans are likely being exposed to this pathogen via the food supply.
Huber wants a multi-agency investigation and an immediate moratorium on deregulation of Roundup Ready crops. To end this article I will print the last paragraph of Huber's letter to Vilsack:
I have studied plant pathogens for more than 50 years. We are now seeing an unprecedented trend of increasing plant and animal diseases and disorders. This pathogen may be instrumental to understanding and solving this problem. It deserves immediate attention with significant resources to avoid a general collapse of our critical agricultural infrastructure.
