New Peking Chinese Restaurant in Detroit

There are many Chinese Restaurants in and around the Metro Detroit area and many have good food, however, one stands out among all the others in service, quality and taste. The New Peking Chinese Restaurant, located in Garden City, is one of the more popular Chinese Food Restaurants in the area and for more than one reason.

New Peking offers 15 appetizers, seven soups and over 80 entrée choices on their dinner menu. Lunch Specials, at New Peking are served Monday through Saturday from 11:30 AM to 3:00 PM. All lunches include Egg Drop Soup, an Egg Roll, Fried Rice and Tea. The lunch menu offers 36 choices of entrees and range in price from $5.75 to $6.75.

The Fried Wonton Appetizer at New Peking is fabulous, it comes served with sweet sauce and hot/spicy mustard, watch that mustard though, it can clear your sinuses pretty quickly. Soups are available ala carte and can be ordered in small ($1.25-$2.65), medium ($2.50-$5.30) or large (3.75-$7.95) sized portions. My personal favorite entrée, at New Peking, is the Chicken Egg Foo Young. The Egg Foo Young dishes at this restaurant are prepared with a different type of sauce than you might find at most Chinese Food restaurants, so you may want to ask for a taste before ordering. Although, I find this restaurant's version of Egg Foo Young to be much better tasting than versions I have tried at other restaurants around town.

All Dinner entrees are served with Steamed Rice, Fortune Cookies and Tea, and the owners have helped diners out by highlighting all entrée choices on the menu that are Hot and Spicy. Dinner menu prices range from $6.95 to $12.25 for single serving entrees. The restaurant also offers 10 different Family Dinners priced from $22.99 to $74.99 which serve anywhere between two and six persons.

The service at New Peking is always prompt but not rushed; and friendly service is the only type of service given. The restaurant has two dining rooms with large seating areas, so although they may experience a high number of customers at their busiest times, they appear to have no problem finding seating for anyone who visits.

You can find the New Peking Chinese Restaurant on the south side of Ford Rd., just east of Middlebelt, in Garden City, Michigan. When you visit, come with a large appetite or look forward to taking home leftovers, as portions are large whether eating lunch or dinner.
