New Product, Aspen Chicken Cordon Bleu

Frozen Chicken Cordon Bleu

Aspen Chicken Cordon Blue is ready to cook and it was new to me. I usually make my own Cordon Blue and my family loves it, so I wanted to try this new produce I found in the grocery store.

It says on the package it is breaded breast of chicken with rib meat (Specially cut, formed and shaped by hand) filled with swiss cheese and Canadian Brand ham. This sounded good to me although I usually use boiled or baked ham when I make mine. I though it might be different, but not all that different.

It also says on the package 0 grams of Trans fat, which appealed to me, but when you look it says it has on the back of the package it goes on to say it has 6 grams of saturated fat and and 880 mgs of sodium. That means it is full of salt and after eating it we found that out that it was indeed salty.

First off the ham is chunked up into tiny little pieces like a ham spread not the regular type of Cordon Bleu. When you cut into the chicken it appear fine on the ends but when you hit the center portion it 'oozes' and pops out. It is apparently what they call a mix of swiss cheese and ham. I thought at first it was cream cheese that had gone bad, until I reread the label. In any case it is less than appetizing and taste even worse

Secondly, It warns you that it has to be cooked in a regular oven to a temperature of at least 165 degrees and be sure to use a thermometer to check it because it is RAW chicken. Well, duh! I could have figured it was raw if it wasn't cooked.

All in all it was one of the worse meats I ever bought and I do not recommend it to anyone even if they are selling for the reasonable price of .99 each. I made this mistake and you are wasting you money on this. Even my dog Roxie, the Jack Russell Terrier, that loves chicken in any form would not touch this. So that tells you something.
