New Product: Vaseline Cocoa Butter Vitalizing Gel Body Oil

Ada Noll
I recently ran across a new Vaseline product while I was in the lotion aisle at my local department store. It was Vaseline Cocoa Butter Vitalizing Gel Body Oil, and I decided to give it a try.

The Good

Vaseline Cocoa Butter Vitalizing Gel Body Oil is made with Brazilian nuts and almond oils. It smells amazing. I had wondered if it was going to have a suntan oil smell to it, because of the cocoa butter, but it did not. The blend of Brazilian and almond oils along with the cocoa butter surprisingly provides a very subtle and pleasant scent.

Vaseline provides a new gel body oil that has a light nutty smell. It offers such a relaxing aromatic experience that it can also be used for a wonderful, inexpensive massage oil. With the gel's consistency it glides easily onto your skin.

The Bad

Vaseline Cocoa Butter Vitalizing Gel Body Oil has the ability to become extremely greasy. A little bit really does go a long way with this product, and although that aspect can be a money-saving-good-thing, it is not in this case. There is no way I could use this body oil as an everyday lotion replacement.

Unfortunately Vaseline did not completely win me over with their new creation. The resulting look of this body oil is not appealing. It made me an unnaturally greasy mess.

The Really Bad

Vaseline Cocoa Butter Vitalizing Gel Body Oil will stain your clothes. You will need to be careful if you opt to give this oil a try. After I applied the oil to my arms, I realized that I had spilled some on my t-shirt. The stain did not come out.

It isn't All Bad

If you want an inexpensive massage oil, this really would be a great body oil to try. I would suggest that you make sure you do not use it around anything you do not want stained.

Although it would be great for back rubs, I would not recommend Vaseline Cocoa Butter Vitalizing Gel Body Oil to anyone for an everyday lotion.

Vaseline Cocoa Butter Vitalizing Gel Body Oil comes in an easy grip plastic 6.8 fluid ounce see through bottle. The gel/oil is a light, pale brown with visible bubbles.

Typically the body oil sells for $6.99, and you can find it in your local department store. For more information on this product or other Vaseline products, visit www.keepingskinalive.com or www.unilever.com.

Really like this product UNTIL I developed a horrible rash everywhere! I've been taking antihistamine for 2 days now and it still is bad. Looks like I rolled in poison ivy! It should be removed from the market.

Buyer beware! I used Vaseline Cocoa Butter Vitalizing Body Gel on my arms and legs after I purchased it... and it seemed to be a little greasy but I thought it was helping my dry skin. So then I decided to try it on my neck and chest and back and I've broken out in a horrible rash on my chest and neck. It's so greasy and difficult to take off the skin, that I hope I haven't further aggravated the rash just trying to get the darn stuff off! Don't buy this! It's going back to the store!

Yes, this stuff does break you out in rashes. I thought this would be a great product for stretch marks and other blemishes on the skin. However, I broke out in rashes on my stomach, arms and upper legs. I did not inch from the rashes, but I did not know where they came from, but reading online now I know.

Initially, it was very good. 1) Smelled nice. 2) Moisturized and smoothed excellently. 3) Made skin glow. Until I broke out in a horrible, itchy, angry, red, rash. It's nearly a week since it appeared, and there is no sign of it going away. I'm miserable and can't stop scratching. BEWARE of this product!

THIS PRODUCT GIVES RASH - PLEASE BE AWARE & READ BELOW
This is the first time I ever leave a comment on a site, but I have to share the awful experience I went through because of Vaseline moisturizing gel. I used it after I had exfoliated my skin. I used Vaseline regular aloe moisturizer before and had no problem, but with the gel is a different story.
First I thought that the stickyness of the gel when I applied it on the skin was odd, but I still put a big amount allover arms, chest, back, and legs at night.
The very next day I started to see this weird rash on my inside arms wrists and elbows. After a few hours I went to check the rest of my body and it started to develop on my back.
I thought it's ok, I will just take a shower and it will go away. BUT the next day it was MUCH WORST, I had my entire back covered of a nasty itchy rash, as well as arms and legs!
I freaked out and had to go to the ER and they diagnosed HIVES, and I am sure it is from this product, as I didn't alt
