New Q-Tip and a Tribe Called Quest Albums in 2007

Q-Tip, a member of the group A Tribe Called Quest, is releasing a solo album titled The Renaissance. The fact that Q-Tip is releasing another album and that A Tribe Called Quest is also releasing another album in late 2007 is very exciting for hip-hop. That album is to be called The Lost Tribe.

A Tribe Called Quest formed in 1988, and released several hit albums including Midnight Marauders, Beats Rhymes and Life, and The Love Movement. A Tribe Called Quest is one of the founding groups of hip-hop and one of the most influential in hip-hop music today. Beats Rhymes and Life reached number one on the billboard 200.

The group consist of Q-Tip, Phife Dawg and DJ Ali Shaheed Muhammad. Tip and Phife Dawg have traded some memorable verses in the past and it should be very exciting to see them get together again for the The Lost Tribe. The group actually disbanded after The Love Movement in 1998, but have sense come back together to work on The Lost Tribe since 2005.

Q-Tip is releasing The Renaissance in the late summer or early fall of 2007, so it is safe to say that Tip's new album will come out a little bit before the Tribe's new album. Q-Tip has said the album will be "a return to his A Tribe Called Quest roots.".

The Lost Tribe, which has a speculative release date of December 2007, and is still being worked on is definitely in the works, however the album may be released after December 2007. A sequel to the song Scenario is being worked on as well as possibly a song with a Biggie verse, taking it of the song Unbelievable. Kanye West and Jay-Z are among the albums producers.

A Tribe Called Quest and Q-Tip both seem to be in prime position to drop some hit records on hip hop in the later part of 2007. Hip-hop is at a time where it needs groups like A Tribe Called Quest and its members to put out some new music. The originators need to show these young guys whats up and how to make real music. A host of albums will be dropped in the latter part of the year so they will have some competition from names like Eminem and D-12. The Tribe's album should fare pretty well regardless, and it is recommend that you pick both albums up whenever they hit stores.
