New Raekwon Album to Be Released in 2009

Raekwon will drop his long awaited new album "Only Built For Cuban Linx II" in the fall. The original album, released way back in 1995 is one of hip hops greatest albums. The year of hip hop sequels continues in 2009, with "Only Built For Cuban Linx II" and "Black Out II" by Redman and Methodman and the "Blue Print III" by Jay-Z. Eminem will release "Relapse II" to cap the 2009 hip hop revival. Raekwon's "Only Built For Cuban Linx" went platinum and is his best selling album to date. There is no doubt that Raekwon is trying to duplicate the success of his only platinum album by releasing a sequel.

Raekwon is 39 years old now, and this may be his last album. He is no doubt hoping to reclaim the glory of his younger years with this album. Hip hop needs the Chef as he is called, to put out a great album. The original "Only Built For Cuban Linx" was one of the most successful albums a member of the Wu-Tang clan has ever put out. Every member of the Wu-Tang clan went on to have semi-successful album. It should be noted that a vast majority of the Wu-Tang clan is going to appear on the album. The RZA will handle most of the production. Even Dr. Dre has been rumored to produce a few tracks for the album.

The 2009 hip hop revival has been going so-so so far. Eminem's "Relapse" is already platinum, but Busta Rhymes and Methodman and Redman have disappointed. With a Jay-z album still to come, and another Eminem album and "Only Built For Cuban Linx II" still on their way, it is unfair to judge the 2009 hip hop revival until the year ended. Or maybe even a few years down the line, because this has been probably the best year of the 2000's for hip hop. This is also probably the swan song for a lot of these rappers as they approach their 40's. Not many rappers have had a successful career after they hit that magic number, and for all of these rappers putting out albums in 2009, they are getting close to it.

In conclusion, Raekwon will put out a sequel to his most successful album entitled "Only Built For Cuban Linx II". The album is due to be released on September 8th, 2009. Interesting enough, Jay-Z's album "The Blue Print III" will drop on September 11th. That week will be a great week for hip-hop.
