You inhale that delicious chocolate and peanut butter aroma as you peel open the wrapper, but, you think as you open it, that these sure look a lot larger on the cover of the bag.
Still, you battle on, just knowing that this is going to be a special treat indeed!
You notice right off how smooth, soft, and creamy the chocolate coating is, and how quickly it melts in your fingers and mouth as you hold it. You bite into it in search of that well known peanut butter flavor you're used to finding in a Reese's cup...unfortunately, its not there.
Sure, there's a little bit of the smooth peanut butter creaminess, but that bit of caramel that tops the peanut butter detracts from the flavor, making it sweeter than peanut butter. Also, what's the point of having pecans in this thing? The peanut crunch and flavor are much more powerful than the pecans taste, therefore, the pecans are just a waste of space!
Disappointed that this didn't have the true Reese's flavor you anticipated, you eat a few more of these little .5oz candy clusters in order to give them a fair shake.
Nope, its still not quite there! However, you do enjoy the creaminess, the soft texture, the peanut crunch, and especially the way the confection just seems to dissolve when placed on your tongue. It's not at all firm or hard like those wonderful little Turtle candies. That texture was a nice surprise, still, with the Reese's name and the fancy wrapper, which caught your attention and excited you in the store, sadly just does not live up to your expectations!
So, what can I say about this confection? Well, I guess, despite the bag's promise that, 'New Reese's Select brings you a new line of deliciously different yet familiar products that delivers the ultimate in Reese's experience,' it falls short of the other Reese's products that are for normal, everyday enjoyment. However, if it's a fancier version of that everyday candy bar created to compare with M&M's Premiums candies, or Turtles, of Dove, or Hershey's Selects, then, they've probably succeeded. Just don't expect these new Reese's Select Clusters to taste like the other Reese's candy bars.

Now you made me hungry. :) Great article.
Nice review.
If it's not broke, don't fix it I guess they say.
Great review! Although, aren't Reeses one of the ones that no longer has cocoa in it? I could be wrong, but I think so.
OH, HOLY COW! How have I NOT seen these in the stores yet? Terrific review. Can't wait to try them for myself.
I dunno. I don't know how this will taste with the pecans. I might pass on this candy.
