New Research Documents Papaya Effective Against Tumor Cells

Papaya Both Food and Medicine

Researchers from the University of Florida, in collaboration with Japanese researchers, published research on the cancer fighting abilities of Papaya. These were not human studies but in vitro or lab studies. This research was published in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology in February. Their research documented that an extract from dried papaya leaves were effective against 10 different kinds of cancer cells: tumors of the cervix, liver, lung, pancreas, and breast. The Papaya extract slowed the growth of the tumor cells in every culture.

Research Is Proving Papaya's Native Usage:

Native people in Australia and Vietnam have used papaya for both food and medicine for several hundred years. The medicinal use of papaya is ingrained in the healing regimens of those cultures. This is how many herbs end up as the basis of drugs. Scientists first look at the native use of the plant, then discover why and how it works. The problem is that scientists then make a synthetic version of the healing oil or property which usually has severe side effects. Plants and herbs when used as a whole plant, have properties that gentle the side effects of the more potent properties. Herbs also contain vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that feed the system as well. A drug is just that. There are thousands of herbs that when taken as the whole herb are healing, potent, with few side effects.

How Could Papaya Fruit Be Effective Against Cancer?

Cancer is a problem with the immune system. If you have cancer, your immune system was not working properly. There are many factors that impact immunity including genetics, age, diet, stress, and mental attitude. Many people today because of lifestyle, diet, and stress have poor immune function.

The papaya is a rich source of vitamins: 33% more Vitamin C and 50% more potassium than oranges with less calories; 13 times more Vitamin C and twice the potassium of Apples; 4 times more Vitamin E than both apples and Oranges; Folate; Vitamin A; Lutein; Zeaxanthins; Lycopene; and enzymes. This wonderful, rich nutritious fruit feeds the body and the immune system. This helps your immune system to fight the cancer more effectively. A strong body can fight harder than a malnourished one. The typical American diet contains too much fast food, convenience food, fat food, empty food and pure junk food. This is not the kind of material that builds or maintains a healthy ,strong, immune system. Eating papaya helps keep you and your immune system healthy.

Papaya Is A Rich Resource For The Enzyme, Papain:

Along with loads of vitamins and minerals, papaya contains high concentrations of an enzyme called Papain. Papain breaks down protein which is why it is used to tenderize meat and aids in digestive. What does this have to do with fighting cancer cells? Many cancer calls have a protective coating of Fibrin. That is why they go undetected for months and years. Papain breaks down that fibrin cancer cell wall. That makes the cancer cell more vulnerable to treatment such as chemotherapy. If the cancer wall is broken down, our own immune system can get to it as well. Papain has a negative effect on the cancer cell wall. This is why it has been shown by several published research studies to work against many different kinds of cancer cells. They all have a common denominator of a protective cell wall made of fibrin. Papaya did not have any negative effects on the normal cells.

Papaya is also rich in other enzymes. Enzymes are only found in raw food and are needed by every function of the body. When you are deficient in enzymes, there are many body processes that become compromised. Today's diet with inadequate amounts of fresh fruits and vegetables, leave most people deficient in many necessary enzymes. This deficiency of enzymes also affects immune function.

Science is proving Hippocrates in 431 BCE who said, "Let food be thy medicine." We need to get back to wholesome, enzyme rich real food including papayas.
