New Solar Panels Make Solar Energy More Promising

Recent Breakthroughs in Solar Energy Light the Way

Nicholas Ward
In our current economic crisis with the BP oil spill disaster still spreading across our oceans, we are forced to look to cleaner cheaper energy sources. This need is facilitated by recent breakthroughs in solar energy. Photon voltaic is becoming a method of the past, solar panels come in many designs today, but the most recent breakthrough in solar energy is IAUS "Advanced Solar Collector".

This technology attempts to harness the power of the sun through a different design of solar panels. Instead of harnessing the power contained in silicon and phosphorus based panels, this new technology seeks to harness the power of the sun itself. This is by far the most recent breakthrough in solar energy to date.

With the heat generated by the sun, and an automated system controlling these panels to keep them at a 90 degree angle from the sun, this form of solar panel has the capacity to generate a powerful energy source. According to IAUS this technology has the capability to power the whole of the continental US, and do it using just a fraction of the land found in one small state.

How does this solar panel based energy work?

Each panel is designed much like a magnifying lens capturing the suns energy and focusing it into one point generating an instant high temperature beam. The beam is then used to generate a large amount of steam which is pushed through a high pressure nozzle.

The pressure from this nozzle turns a turbine. As the pressure is released from the nozzle it is ionized to generate additional electricity, this electricity is then used for electrolysis of water to generate hydrogen. This hydrogen is combined with CO2 molecules split into Carbon and O2 by the beam generated from the solar panel.

Once these components are combined they create Methanol, which can be utilized as a cleaner and cheaper alternative to gasoline. This technology is so multi purposed it could potentially solve many of our energy problems today. However, it seems it's been in the works for 5 years now, ever since the companies first press release in 2005, and as of yet there has only been one contract signed.

Why is solar panel based energy the solution?

What better way to solve our dependence on oil and oil products then to generate our own power from a limitless source like the sun? Up until now the life expectancy of a solar panel has been 25 years. The cost of manufacture, and energy loss ratio, has seen that these solar panels didn't get used as widely as they could have been. But with new technology available to fill this gap storing, and utilizing as much as 30% of the suns energy. We may finally have a solution to our current dilemma.

Why is solar collector better then existing PV solar panels?

PV(photon voltaic) solar panels have a 25 year life expectancy, and the design of these solar panels prevents us from utilizing more then 1% of the suns energy. The problem isn't with the technology per say, it's the implementation. The usage of Silicon, borazon and phosphorus prevents us from achieving full potential. The heat element of the sun is wasted in PV solar panels and if (watts = heat) then why shouldn't (heat = watts)?

The other problems associated with the PV solar panels include voltage loss due to low conductivity of silicon, and the limitations on how many electrons can be "knocked" off of the phosphorus.

  • Solar energy is the heat and photons radiated by the sun.
  • Solar energy makes a solid replacement for current fossil fuel.
  • Solar energy will be around until the day the sun explodes taking us with it.
The sun is a big ball of gas, matter, and it's the center of our universe. The sun holds the power to our entire universe, so it only makes sense to borrow power from it.
