4-D Dive-In Theater is Something New in Wisconsin Dells

Instead of a drive-in theater, thrill seekers will get a chance to experience something completely different at a new attraction called the 4-D Dive-In Theater at Noah's Ark in Wisconsin Dells, Wis. The waterpark is America's largest set in the middle of this popular Midwest vacation destination.

It is the first and only 3D/4D theater in the world to use water in quite this way during performances.

Just think. You and your kids can sit cozily in your seats as three, drenching special effects surprise you into a tizzy. Water will be squirted, dropped from above and shot out of cannons - all into the audience.

Plus, theater-goers have never been accustomed to what will happen next during the show. The seats will come alive with leg tickers and vibrations. The senses also will face wind, lightning, scents and the soothing bubbles.

Even through all the excitement, you'll also be able to watch the SpongeBob Squarepants 4-D Movie on the expansive 40-foot wide screen. The park spent more than $2 million to build this family-friendly attraction.

"This is such a unique theater," says Tim Gantz, co-owner of Noah's Ark. "Not only is the movie entertaining, but the special effects, water and scents really set this attraction apart from anything else in the Midwest."

If the adults or even the little kids don't particularly want to get soaked, the theater sets apart 36 seats in the 176-seat house, without any special effects.

The movie features SpongeBob's quest to find a runaway pickle to serve that perfect Krabby Patty. He ends up chasing his best friend, Patrick, through Bikini Bottom in this 12-minute adventure.

Plenty of park enthusiasts will be able to enjoy the show during each day because more than 700 guests can be accommodated every hour.

Admission to the park is all it takes to get into the theater. You can find discounts to the park at most of the nearby hotels and resorts or online.
The park opens Memorial Day weekend and stays open daily - if weather permitting - through Labor Day.

Noah's Ark started out in 1979 with a bumper boat ride and go-karts. Each year, more rides, pools and amusements have been added to make it the largest one in the USA. It sits on 70 acres of land but is filled with wave pools, miniature golf, dozens of waterslides for every age, a lazy river, shopping, concessions of all types, picnic areas, showers and more.
