New Spring Shows Join Old Favorites: Painkiller Jane Meets the Simpsons

Don't Cancel Any!

Of course having a love of a particular new television program is something that I can only offer my opinion on. An intense love of a show can only be decided by any particular person.

I love "Painkiller Jane." Jane has been given great power but she cannot be killed. She is charged with getting rid of threats to earth.

Kristanna Loken is the main lead in the series and you may know her as the female robot in Terminator III. She is athletic and believable as a tough woman.

Of course I would be highly annoyed if the Simpsons were cancelled. They are the funniest family on television when it comes to characterizations and individual funny personalities. They have been responsible for a lot of slang.

When it comes to dark drama I think I want to be able to give Eddie Izzard and Minnie Driver a chance because the show looks so intense and has such a great plot. On "Riches" a family dies in a car crash and the "anti-heroes" take their place giving their hustling up. Of course that creates an adventure each week that they must deal with.

I'm very excited about a show called "Planet Earth" on the Discovery Channel. This non-fiction explorer-driven show will bring people closer to their environment in a very scientific way and I want to see all the episodes!

I love historic pieces of work and there will be a number of episodes about Henry VIII and his various love affairs in his quest to have a child. Behind "romance" is the social issues in having to deal with the Catholic Church. Especially since King Henry practiced divorce. This show is titled "Tudor."

There are other good shows that aren't necessarily new. I would hate to see "King of the Hill" be cancelled. As I said in another article American Idol is funny because of some of the really bad singers as well as Simon Cowell who I love to hate. And, sometimes you get to hear a singer that just knocks you out.

As I said at the outset of this article, favorite shows are very personal; they are subjective if you will. You can visit the broadcast websites to find out what they have going new this spring. However, I would also say to keep an eye on the older shows like the Simpsons and "House." Very often as a show ages and the writers know there will be stiffer competition they will redouble their efforts.
