Finding places to eat that serve purely vegan food can be difficult, especially when you live in a place where BBQ and fried foods rule the day.

However I recently had the chance to try a vegan buffet restaurant in Dallas Texas. The place is called New Start Veggie Garden.

First impression and atmosphere at the New Start Veggie Garden

My boyfriend and I had a little trouble finding the New Start Veggie Garden, but I'm not sure if that's because the location is a little odd or because our GPS sent us on an unusual route. The restaurant is located on Royal Lane just East of I 35 E.

When we arrived at New Start Veggie garden I was excited about trying some vegan buffet in Dallas but a little turned off by the surrounding neighborhood. Nevertheless, the actual restaurant itself seemed nice, so we went in.

Upon entering the New Start Veggie Garden I relaxed a lot. The buffet is laid out directly in front of the entrance and the place had a nice relaxing and clean atmosphere. Most of the lighting is provided by the natural light that pours in through the large windows in the front of the restaurant.

There is ample seating at New Start Veggie Garden. However, I was a little surprised to see that there was only one other group of people dining at New Start Veggie Garden, since I had heard it was nominated as the best vegan restaurant in Dallas.

I later realized we had arrived only thirty minutes before closing. New Start Veggie Garden closes down after lunch to allow time to prepare fresh foods for dinner. Thus explaining why the place was so empty.

What the food is like at New Start Veggie Garden

The food is vegan buffet. It's primarily Korean dishes. There are lots of portions to choose from, like fried squash, enchiladas, glass noodles, vegan orange chicken, and spring rolls. There is also Meso soup and vegan teriyaki chicken.

I really loved the glass noodles, enchiladas, meso soup, and teriyaki chicken. There were a few foods I wasn't that crazy about, such as the spring rolls, but overall it was an amazing vegan buffet. I filled my plate with a little of everything and found that it tasted delicious and of high quality.

At New Start Veggie Garden, not only do they serve only vegan food, but they also cook with very little to no oil, so the food is healthier as well.

The only negative thing I could say about the food is that if you arrive there close to closing, some items may be gone, so you're options will be limited.

Service

Since it is buffet style vegan food, there isn't much need for service at New Start Veggie Garden. We were greeted when we arrived, chose a seat and a waitress took our drink order and quickly returned with them.

The people there seemed very polite and proud of the food they offer.

Price and overall impression

The buffet is $8.30 for lunch and $10.00 for dinner, which, for the variety of food you get and the overall quality is very reasonable. I would definitely return to New Start Veggie Garden. I thought the food was great and enjoyed the fact that it was all vegan.

If you are looking for some great vegan food in Dallas, you'll want to try New Start Veggie Garden.
