New Steakhouse Sub from Arbys

Nice New Sandwich from Arbys Tries to Take on the Cheese Steak.

Jay Braun
Arby's introduces the new Steakhouse Sub. This mouth watering sandwich is similar to a cheese steak in the opinion of many people. I would not quite say that, but it is a decent way to describe it to someone very simply. Maybe call it a cross between a roast beef sandwich and a cheese steak. You are not able to get them at every Arby's yet, but a friend of mine manages the one I used to work at who made me one.

I found the sandwich to be pretty good and tasty. It comes with roughly four ounces of Arby's slow roasted and thinly sliced roast beef on a toasted ciabatta roll. Swiss cheese and onion rings are added to round out the taste. A zesty cracked peppercorn is added to top it all off. Personally it was pretty good and none of the tastes were overwhelming. I personally did not care for the sauce or Swiss cheese but that is my personal preference. I will modify mine in the future by using American cheese and leaving the sauce off or possibly using a barbecue sauce on it instead. I found the onion rings really add to the flavor of the roast beef and make the sandwich.

As you can imagine it is not good for you like the majority of fast food that is available currently. As made the Steakhouse Sub has 750 calories, 40 grams of fat including 10 grams of saturated fat and 1 gram of trans fat. There are 60 grams of carbohydrates and 40 grams of protein overall in the sandwich. A good amount of the fat is from the mayonnaise base of the cracked peppercorn sauce and fried onion rings.

I would not go out of my way for the sandwich, but it was good and I probably would buy it occasionally again. The Steakhouse Sub is something different if you are tired of eating cheeseburgers from McDonald's and Burger King or tacos from Taco Bell. It does not come anywhere near the beef and cheese flavor of the Philadelphia style cheese steak though.
