New Study Shows that the Great Britain Has a Higher Crime Rate Than the United States

A new study put out by the European Commission reveals some shocking figures: Great Britain has a 77% increase in crime since the Labour Party came to power in 1997 when Parliament passed a bill banning the private ownership of guns. Even though one may not legally own a gun in Great Britain, crime still exists, with criminals using the knife as the weapon of choice. In 2007, Great Britain has had 927 murders, which is quite a lot for a country that has a population of 62,262,000. The nation also has high robbery and rape rates despite the fact the private ownership of guns remains banned, which means that private citizens are unable to legally defend themselves should they come in contact with a criminal. Chris Grayling, the shadow home secretary of Great Britain, admits that despite Labour Party reforms dating back to 1997 which were supposed to help the poor, crime has risen, along with the number of people on welfare, and gang crime. Grayling acknowledges that the increase in anti-social behavior in Great Britain has only been exacerbated by the Labour Party's lenient views towards criminals and the poor. According to broken down statistics, there are 2,000 crimes for every 100,000 people in Great Britain, compared to 466 crimes for every 100,000 people in the United States. And people in the United States are allowed by law to own guns, which is guaranteed by our Constitution.

With guns banned in Great Britain, street ans gang crime has increased. The same study also reveals that people requiring medical aid as the result of violent crime in Great Britain has risen 50% in the past five years. A number of factors are blamed here, ranging from alcohol to gangs and street fights, usually the domain of the very poor, even though Great Britain has continued to increase welfare funds to the needy, who are stuck in the cycle of poverty. The Home Office, under the control of the Labour Party, claims that violent crime has dropped in the past decade, but as of last October, it was revealed that their recording methods have been inaccurate, having used "creative statistics" in violent crime reports.

In 2007, 13% of all violent crime victims were attacked with knives. Great Britain in fact has been labeled the "Knife Crime Capital" of the western world due to the number of individuals who have been recipients of knife crime: being stabbed to death, no matter what the age of the person. On Good Friday in 2007, a 14 year-old boy died from knife wounds inflicted by a street gang in east London. So even though individuals are not allowed to own guns in Great Britain, the nation still has a very high crime rate. That year, the police reported a total of 5,023 knife crimes during the spring of 2007 that seriously injured individuals. That breaks down to about 400 knife crimes per week during that season.

It is speculated that a person in London has a higher chance of being stabbed to death than dying in a car accident. Without the legal ownership of guns to defend themselves, though, the British remain at the mercy of knife criminals who stop at nothing to kill innocent citizens.
