According to www.imdb.com, the revamped live action Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle film will be pushed to 2012. This is somewhat unfortunate news for TMNT fans because they were expecting it to be released around the spring of 2011. Last Saturday marked the final episode of the 2k3 animated series. The final episode was actually the Turtles Forever movie that featured all the past incarnations of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles that ever existed along with long awaited debut of the Mirage Comics Ninja Turtles. The movie will likely be released DVD in the near future for those who may have missed it. With a new generation of Ninja Turtles coming up in the near future, one can wonder what they will look like. I am hoping for a gritty series that will have all four turtles sporting their retro red colored bandannas.

The new generation will of course feature the new live action film that is scheduled to be released in 2012. The movie will be much grittier than the original live action film from 1990 which garnered over 200 million dollars at the box office worldwide. Animatronics will not be used according to www.firstshowing.net, but instead face replacement technology will likely be the answer. I am not sure if that is a relief for fans because the first two live action films were pretty darn good and loosely based on the comics. Peter Laird mentioned that the movie will be a lot like the original comics he and Kevin Eastman created in 1984.

In my opinion, I really do not mind the extra wait because I am hoping the producers really make the right decisions and fully analyze the comics. I personally liked the animatronics used in the original films, but change is always good. Some may think that the idea of a new live action film may be a little much since the TMNT franchise is not as popular as it was in the 1980s and 1990s, but I really think it would be a great idea since it may give Michael Bay's Transformers a run for their money. Also, I am really hoping the era of TMNT will be bold and gritty, but only time will tell if they will be accepted by the new generation of fans.
