New Toy Story 3 Trailer Debuts Online

Disney-Pixar's official Toy Story 3 teaser trailer in stunning HD has made its first appearance online. The Toy Story 3 trailer is available for viewing over at Apple Trailers and features all the regulars: Woody, Buzz Lightyear, Rex The Green Dinosaur, and Mr. Potato Head. Toy Story 3's release date is June 18, 2010.

Toy Story 3, based on the trailer, continues the story of human boy Andy's favorite toys, who come to life when he's not around. Andy is college aged now, and he has since grown out of his toys, leaving them abandoned and unused in his bedroom. They get a second life as daycare toys, but they quickly hatch a plan to escape after experiencing wear and tear from young children.

Toy Story regulars Tom Hanks and Tim Allen voice Woody and Buzz Lightyear, respectively, as do Toy Story veterans John Ratzenberger as Hamm the Piggy Bank, Don Rickles as Mr. Potato Head, Wallace Shawn as Rex The Green Dinosaur, and John Cusack as Jessie The Yodeling Cowgirl. Sadly, the voice of Slinky Dog will be voiced by a different actor, comedian Blake Clark, as Jim Varney passed away in 2000.

New voices in Toy Story 3 include Michael Keaton, playing a Ken doll, and Timothy Dalton, playing a character named Mr. Pricklepants. Whoopi Goldberg, Bonnie Hunt, and Jeff Garlin are also rumored to be providing voiceovers.

Toy Story 3 will be shown in theatres in 3-D. Currently, 3-D re-releases of Toy Story and Toy Story 2 are in movie theatres, and the Toy Story 3 trailer was previously only available at these screenings. Along with upconverting these movies to 3-D, Pixar has also updated the first two movies with technological improvements and software upgrades made over the last ten years. The re-release has gone so well that Disney will keep the first two Toy Story movies in theatres throughout October, according to Variety.

Pixar's Toy Story franchise has been one of those rare cases where the sequel is received as well as the original movie, both commercially and critically, some even considering the sequel to be superior to the original. Audiences will be expecting Toy Story 3 to be on par with the first two Toy Story movies.

Pixar's projects on the horizon include Rapunzel, a version of the classic fairy tale, Cars 2, a sequel to the racecar hit, and a new version of Winnie The Pooh. A sequel to Monsters, Inc. is also rumored to be in pre-production.

Great article! I love Toy Story. It's quite possibly my favorite movie. It was first released when I was around 13. I really wish one of my local theaters had got them but they didn't :( Oh well, guess I'll just have to watch them at home :) Thanks for the update about the trailer being available online.
