(BATON ROUGE, LA) '" Hollywood is once again in Baton Rouge filming a new movie starring Jean-Claude Van Damme in "Universal Soldier: A New Dimension". The new movie from Sony Pictures Entertainment co-stars Dolph Lundgren and Scott Adkins in this action/sci-fi movie that is another sequel to the 1992 original "Universal Soldier" movie which also starred Van Damme.

Van Damme and Lundgren will be reprising the roles they made famous in the original movie, which promises to be as exciting and entertaining as ever. This will be the fourth movie in the Universal Soldier series.

"Universal Soldier: A New Dimension" will be directed by John Hyams, who also wrote the screenplay for the new movie. There were talks about the movie being produced in 3D and rumors have been floating around the internet for some time, but no official confirmation on this aspect has been released to date. It is also thought that the title perhaps reflects the move to 3D in the second part of the name, "A New Dimension". Since details on the movie are sketchy at this time, we will have to wait for further details to arise on the confirmation on the 3D aspect of "Universal Soldier: A New Dimension".

In the movie, Jean-Claude Van Damme will play the role of Luke Deveraux and Dolph Lundgren will take on the role of Andrew Scott according to IMDB.

Filming of "Universal Soldier: A New Dimension" began on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 in downtown Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Area residents were advised that there would be several street closures during the filming of "Universal Soldier: A New Dimension" that would cover several streets and blocks in the immediate downtown area. Some of the closures would be for only a few minutes, but some may longer. Detours are highly encouraged, as traffic jams on one-way streets in the downtown area can get very aggravating.

Specific areas and streets local residents should try to avoid for the next week are Gayosa Street between North 19th Street and North 22nd Street, North 19th Street between Government Street and North Blvd., and the North Blvd. overpass.
On Friday, May 20 and Monday, May 23, 2011 full days of filming is planned again in downtown Baton Rouge with intermittent street closings. Street closures will begin at 6:00 am and end at 8:00 pm each day.

Residents in Baton Rouge were advised by Amy Mitchell-Smith, Executive Director at the Baton Rouge Film Commission that the filming of "Universal Soldier: A New Dimension" will involve lots of action and noise, including car crashes with simulated cars and stunts.

Other movies currently filming or in pre-production in Baton Rouge this month are Sons of Guns 2, Ghouls, Big Valley, The Cellar, Philly Kid, and Stash House.

Baton Rouge has become a favorite city for producers to film in with tax credits and other incentives coming from the State of Louisiana. The city also has nice production facilities and studios to offer, as well as qualified personnel to assist on movies.

Other major films that have been shot recently in Baton Rouge are The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn '" Part I and Part II, Battle: Los Angeles, The Ledge, Batttleship, Cirque du Freak: The Vampire's Assistant, and Flypaper.
