All of us have them - the gifts that we have no idea why someone gave to us but can not throw out. Or maybe in our excitement we bought a kitchen gadget that we know thing what have we done. Maybe we are too scared to get rid of it. Maybe its laziness. Maybe we are holding onto the hope that one day we will use it.

If this is describing your breadmaker, take it out where ever it is pushed back and give it another try. After a couple of successes you will find that it has many use and will become a tool just as helpful as a hand mixer. Here are some common and not so uncommon ways of using your breadmaker:

Whole Wheat Bread - Are you aware that the bread labeled whole what in the grocery store, may not be really whole wheat bread? It could be a combination of wheat and white flour. The bread that you make at home you totally control. You decide what ingredients to put in the bread and the quality.

Sweet Roll Dough - If you have never had cinnamon rolls from scratch you are missing out. The amount of work sit takes by hand, though will make you even forget about considering it. The great thing about a breadmaker is that it cuts the work in half. All you do is add the ingredients in the order that your breadmaker recommends, close the door, select the dough cycle and press start. That's it. You don't have to worry about combine the ingredients the right way or if the dough is rising at the correct temperature. The machine automatically takes care of it.

Pizza Dough - By using your machine for pizza dough you can save hundreds of dollars over a year. Pizza dough is easy to make plus you can decide what toppings and in what percentage on the pizza. Best of all, pizza dough freezes wonderfully. You can freeze the dough for a quick snack later or use the dough to make your own calzone.

Customized Bread for the Holiday - much has been written about homemade gifts. What could be better than you to make your own version of bred. It would make the gift even more valuable because they can only get that type from you. Plus, you could add in certain nuts and raisin for each person according to their preferences.

Jam - Some breadmakers have a jam cycle. This was only added however after adventurous people figured out that you could use your bread machine for jam. This is another product that would make a good Christmas gift. You could create your own label or better than that, have your kids make them.

A breadmaker is more than making white bread. They have a variety of uses all which will save your money. Better than that, nothing tastes as good as homemade and you know exactly the what goes into your bread and the quality of the ingredients. All of which makes now the best time to pull out your old breadmaker.
