Coffee Table
Why not use those leftover wood floor or laminate wood floor pieces to give your coffee table a new look. To do this simple install a picture frame molding on the top of the wood coffee table.
This will create a frame on top of the coffee table. Now, start installing the wood floor slats just like you did on the floor. You can get a whole new coffee table for free this way!
Laminate wood strips are great for this because you can set a drink right ton them. Kids can color on the coffee table with any worry about clean up too.
Kitchen Cabinet Makeover
This same idea can be used on the front of flat front kitchen cabinets. Use that same picture frame molding or even some three quarter inch molding to build a frame out on the kitchen cabinet door.
Now, install the wood floor or laminate wood floor inside of the frame. You can easily transform the look of any kitchen cabinet this way.
If you use a floating laminate wood floor then you may wan to use some wood glue when installing the wood floor on the cabinets. This way they will stay in place.
If you want to skip the wood picture frame, then cut your leftover laminate wood floor or wood floor pieces out to fill the front of the kitchen cabinet exactly. Once they are nailed and glued into place you can use a wood stain pen to color the cut edges to blend in.
A little wood stain would also finished these off as well. This is a fun contemporary look in any kitchen or bathroom. Don't forget to predrill the holes and screw in some hardware!
So, I hope these ideas for using up leftover laminate wood flooring or hardwood flooring strips gets you started. This is a free source for valuable wood and crafts in any room in your home.
You can even make a simple door mat out of your leftover wood strips! Cutout a sheet of plywood to size, install that edge frame, then install your wood floor.
This would look great in the front doorway or leading into the basement. If you used self installed bamboo wood flooring then why not create a bamboo bathmat with yoru leftover wood flooring!

Post a CommentI have some beautiful oak floor panels w/a cherry finish but not enough to lay a floor down. I'm trying to get some ideas for using this beautiful wood.
Any ideas would be great!
