There are a lot of games coming out on Nintendo's top selling system in August. Between old games getting new life on the virtual consol, new Wii Ware games to explore and a few choice titles hitting the shelves there is a lot to keep track of. This is a handy guide of the games of note coming out during the end of summer.

Real Heroes: Firefighter (Releases August 4th): This title might sound like a game made for little kids but in truth this is a first person shooter with a twist that might appeal to hardcore game fans. The story follows a young firefighter as he tries to put out massive blazes in many different locations. Might be a surprise hit.

Brave: A Warriors Tale (Releases August 4th): This adventure title that takes place in a world based on the myths of Native Americans stars a warrior who can turn into different animals.

G. I. Joe: Rise of Cobra The Game (Releases August 4th): Video game adaptations from movies are not typically the best games ever. Still this game is not going to just retell the story of the movie, a move that dooms most games based on movies. Instead it will tell its own story that takes place after the movie with new villains and heroes thrown in. If you're a fan of the toy you will most likely want to pick this one up.

Phantom Brave: We Meet Again (Releases August 4th) This game is in fact a port from a Playstation 2 game. It is hardcore, turn based RPG that got decent reviews the first time around. Its release on the Wii will offer little new for the game except for a small graphics update and some new content. Still if you missed it the first time now is your chance to discover it on the Wii.

Grovin' Blocks (Releases August 11th) Last year this title was released as a Wii Ware game, the cheap download combined music and puzzle games in a unique new way. Now it is getting repackaged with new levels and new music to sell at a retail store near you. If you did not download the original the buzz is that this is an addictive and fun puzzle game.

Madden NFL 10 (Release August 14th) The next in the long line of great football games promises enough new additions to make it worth your while to quit playing last years Madden game. It has a new art direction, and a new mode to get sucked into. Also as always its refined the motion based actions like passing and blocking.

The Circle: Martial Arts Fighter (Releases August 18th) This fighting game that is being released on multiple platforms will focus on realistic martial arts to set itself apart. The Wii version is going to make the use of the Wii controls as best they can to try to make a fluid and fast fighting experience.

Spectrobes: Origins (Releases August 18th) This original series is geared for kids but might have a lot to offer hardcore and adult gamers. The story follows a boy who flies around space collecting fossils and then brining the creatures to life to fight along side him. It sounds a lot like Pokemon but seeing as there has not been a true Pokemon game on the Wii this is might be your chance to get your fix with a new game world.

Metroid Prime Trilogy (Releases August 24th) All three Metroid Prime games were well received by fans of the original series and new gamers who were looking for something a little bit more grownup on the Nintendo series. Now all three games are being bundled together in case you missed it. If you did not play any of these games it will be worth grabbing the collection.

Cursed Mountain (Releases August 25th) This original survival horror game for the Wii pits a mountain climber against evil spirits trapped between life and death. Armed with a pick axe, some relics that he finds as he progress and a lot of motion activated challenges the player must do his best to survive the mountain.

Contra ReBirth (Releases sometime in August) This game follows the trend of other retro games but creating a whole new story in the style of the games that folks loved to play in the old days. This game has the look and feel of an old Contra game with a graphics overhaul and a new storyline to draw you in. Look for it as a Wii Ware download sometime during the month.
