New World Symphony Does a Concert for Children

Pat Bartels
I wish I lived in the Miami area because this is definitely something I would take my granddaughter to. This is the kind of thing I was talking about in my article Why Classical Music is Important to Your Child.

On Sunday March 7th the New World Symphony will be presenting a concert for children. These are the types of events that children love and this concert will expose them to the wonderful world of classical music. Tickets are $10 and well worth it.

The New World Symphony fellows will be playing highlights from Strauss' Also Sprac Zarathustra, Beethoven's Fifth Symphony, Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake, plus they will also be playing some big band hits. This is just the type of thing that children will enjoy and so will adults.

You will have to make plans to go early to this concert as there will be an instrument petting zoo. Children will get to interact with the New World Symphony Fellows, ask questions, and play instruments.

The concert will be held at the Lincoln Theater at 541 Lincoln Road, Miami Beach, FL. There will be two performances one at 11:30 am and one at 2:30 pm. Teddy Abrams will be conducting and they are calling it the Time-Travelling Orchestra. Sounds like a fun exploration of music.

So if you do live in the Miami area mark this date on your calendar and take your children to a concert and let them experience classical music.

I love doing whatever I can to support the New World Symphony as my son and his wife were members some years back. I have a special place in my heart for this organization as they not only provide wonderful music, but also a wonderful learning experience for the young musicians that perform with the New World Symphony.
