New Year Resolution

If This Was Your Last Day...

I have just heard about a great man of God who died yesterday. He was divorced from his wife and his wife prayed for him to come back home. After about 2 years and a half, he did and they remarried. Together they have been ministering to thousands of people who have suffered or have been affected in any way by a divorce. You can find out about him more at Rejoice Ministries. What a legacy he left to his children and grandchildren!

But as I was reading that, I realized that this can happen to any of us. We do not know our hour and day when we will die, or we wil be called home. Will we be ready? Before you answer that, I really would like you to think. The apostle Paul says, to test ourselves and see if we are in faith. I think we need to test ourselves and see if we are really trusting in Jesus for salvation and IF we really are living obedient lives for Him. Jesus said in Matthew that not all those who say Lord, Lord will go into Heaven. Not even those who cast out demons, healed the sick, and preached, but those who knew Him and then later on He says that , those who did the will of Father. I guess knowing Him leads to doing His will. His will is more than just reading the Bible and singing or meeting on Sundays. His will is more than going to a Bible Study. The Bible says clearly that God's will is our santification ( being different than the world) and also to heal the sick, cast out demons, cleanse the lepers, preach the good news freely, and also loving people. There was no New Testament when He told the disciples all these, so I doubt Jesus cared that much about just sitting down all day and studying the Word without any application. The disciples lived the new Testament. If they hadn't done anything, they would have had nothing to write about. They wrote about their own lives and beliefs. As we go on DO the Word, we will have something to leave behind to others as they did.

I had really tried to analyze my life today and realized that there is so much I need to change. Some of my priorities are wrong. There is so much I want to do for my daughter. And there are so many more people I want to reach. So, I am in a mood to make a plan. I believe that people will carry out better their plans if they write them down. " Write down the vision" , God told Habakkuk.

We need to get busier. Curry Blake was saying in one of his teachings that, we basically do not take God's Word as a command, but as an option. He said that if we were in the army, we would do what they would ask of us, no questions asked, yet when God told us to heal the sick, preach the Gospel, etc. we say, " Well, that is not for me. I do not feel led", etc. When did obeying God become an option? He did not say, " If you feel like it, go and preach, and heal, etc". He gave a command. We need to get serious and share Jesus with people and make His glory known on Earth or we will give an account for all the people that will not go to Heaven because we did not take this message seriously.

We are so busy with our lives and then maybe, just maybe if we have some free time, we will share the Good News with someone.. We are not taking this seriously and time could be up for us any day and then what will we say to the King?

I pray that we will wake up and serve God passionately because He came to call us home into His Kingdom since we were rebellious children and walked away from Him. He came to restore our identity. He came to bring His family back together, but He wants to bring more people home because He loves them and we are His vessels He will use to reach others. We need to be grateful for that, but also realize others need Him, too. To not share the good news of the Gospel is a very selfish act. It's basically saying to God, " Thanks for saving ME, but who cares about the next guy?"

The end of the year is coming quickly and a new year will be on our lap quick. Let's not just make resolutions, but keep them. Let us make resolutions that involve changing others' lives.

And then we can say Happy New Year Jesus! Make Him smile this coming year because of your obedience to His Word and your love for His creation.

For 2011, I'm not "going forward" - I'm learning to "Step Back" and let God lead the way. I am at the crossroads, the fork in the road and His Plan is so much better than my own lofty goals and resolutions :) Cheers, my friend, for a Peaceful New Year's - Peace is so much better than "Happy". His peace be with you :)
