New Year's Day is the beginning of a New Year and a new beginning. This holiday gives us hope. Preschoolers are special little ones, and these lesson plans need to be combined with the Christmas lesson plans. Why? Children will be on Christmas break during this holiday. The combination of lessons gives preschoolers the opportunity to learn more.
Resolution questions are fun activities. Teachers can ask their students what they want next year. Remember to make it fun and exciting. To make this easier, the educator can give them two options to choose from. This game is simply asking the students a simple question. It will not be hard to answer.
Countdown calendars educate them on the days of the week and months. Math is a big part of this lesson. Basic math skills are taught as well. Children are interested in learning about the history of the New Year's celebration. The countdown calendar needs to begin on the first day of December. As the days go by, one student for each day can cross that day off the calendar.
Story time is a time to make up stories and to pretend. Preschoolers learn how to be creative and to use their imagination. The history can become an interesting story. Imagination blending together with facts gives history a new look and appreciation. Creativity soars through this activity. Students can take turns making up story lines to go along with the facts given by the teacher. It will be fun to hear how the stories will grow with imagination in a matter of minutes.
Teachers can teach these students that change is OK. The New Year allows new beginnings to happen. These lessons do not require as much assistance from teachers as other lesson plans. Do not hesitate to expand the learning atmosphere with these plans. The more learning is fun, the more they may learn. Learning doesn't have to be boring. It needs to be exciting and it needs to capture their attention.
New Year's Day is a national holiday and is celebrated by millions. Preschoolers too can be a part of those millions who take part in this big celebration. These activities are both educational and fun. Teachers can adapt these activities as they see fit. Change is a beautiful thing, and it needs to be embraced.
