New Year's Eve

Dateless and Still Utterly Fabulous

So you just broke up with your boyfriend of eight months and now you're kind of wishing you had waited till after the New Year, just so you'd have someone to kiss at midnight. Or perhaps you're casually dating several people right now but no one is really willing to commit to spending New Year's Eve with you just yet. Don't even bother worrying, because you are going to have an incredible New Years' celebration without a guy! To be perfectly honest, half the time, guys ruin events, and you end up not having as great a time as you would have had you gone solo.

Tip Number One: Plan a Single Girls Only Party! Round up two or three of your closest and single girl friends and plan somethinge really fun. Is one of your favorite restaurants having a private VIP New Year's Party? Reserve a table for you and your ladies, and you are guaranteed to have a terrific time. Many upscale restaurants put in a lot of effort for their clients, complete with complimentary glasses of champagne that seem to be remain filled all night, party favors, music and dancing. Make sure you reserve a table though, otherwise your lovely feet will be hurting in those gorgeous heels!

Tip Number Two: Don't want to be stuck out in the craziness? Host a New Year's gala at your home! Once again, invite over a couple of close gal pals, and celebrate from the comfort of your very own living room! This way, you can control the music and the environment, watch the fireworks from your balcony, rent a New Year's themed movie such as 200 Cigarettes, and avoid all the craziness and the drunk drivers. You can either have everyone get all dressed up, or you can have a relaxed lounge night where everyone wears their cutest sweatpants or pajamas.

Tip Number Three: Splurge on a gorgeous outfit. It's all about treating yourself this New Years, so go ahead and buy a daring dress that accentuates your curves! You'll look gorgeous wherever you go, and you deserve the best! Have your makeup professionally done, get a massage the day before, I mean just go all out and relax, then you'll really be looking well-rested and fantastic for the big night!

Tip Number Four: TV marathons. A few New Year's Eves ago, I relaxed on my couch and watched every single episode of Sex and The City that I had missed, and by the end of the night, I was completely caught up with the whole season! Along with a bottle of champagne and a box of truffles all to myself, I had a great time all by myself!

Tip Number Five: Spend it with your family. My parents are the two most important people to me in the world, and I can always count on them for support and care. Go relax at home with your folks; be a kid for the night again. Just hang out, chat, make some mixed drinks, and watch the ball go up in New York City Times Square. Your folks will appreciate the fact that you want to spend the holiday with them, and it will bring all of you closer.

And just remember, you're not going to be single forever. In fact, this could be your last New Year's Eve that you spend alone, so enjoy it for what it's worth! Just because you don't have someone to kiss at midnight this year doesn't mean that you won't have someone to kiss next year!! And on a final note, you may even run into your New Year's kiss while shopping at the grocery store for your champagne and other goodies...

  • Just because you're single doesn't mean you can't have a great New Year's Eve.
  • Splurge on a gorgeous outfit for yourself.
  • Gather up a group of your best single girl friends and plan a night out/or in for that matter.
