San Francisco, CA 94102
United States of America
The weather for New Year's Eve has always been varied. San Francisco is noted for its fog, and there is no telling if the fog will roll in that night or not. Most fog forms around 11 pm to 2 am and lingers until it burns off by midday the next day. If it has been raining in the days prior to New Years eve there is a high probability that there will be fog. The nights can be mild to brisk (low 50s to upper 30s), so you will need a jacket to view any fireworks. I
If you don't live in the area you will be flying into San Francisco International Airport which is located south of San Francisco near San Bruno. The hotels in San Francisco are of the highest ratings of 5 stars. Their price is also reflected in their rating - they are expensive. Lower priced hotels can be found closer to the airport. All the major hotel chains are represented at reasonable prices.
The majority of the firework displays will be over water due to the potential fire danger. Because of that fact many of the local small shipping fleets will be offering cruises on the bay for fireworks viewing. Here is a breakdown of some of them:
Belle of the Ball New Year's Eve Cruise

Dancing and music will also be on tap
Premier New Year's Eve Cruise

New Year's Eve Gala Cruise
Location: across the bay in the Berkley Marina at 200 Marian Boulevard
This cruise is identical to the Belle of the Ball cruise. It just sails out from a different location. Same cruise line, Hornblower Cruises.
If you want to keep your feet on solid ground there are many areas to view the fireworks. If you are in San Francisco the best place might be near the top of Nob Hill. Down by the waterfront will be another good spot. The green out by the Presidio will of course be a favorite and most of the locals will be heading there.
Enjoy watching the fireworks display and remember to stay safe when leaving the area. Traffic will be you only obstacle after the display is done.
