Boston is a great place to visit and a better place to live. There is always something going on in this cosmopolitan city, but on new year's eve 2009 Boston becomes a magical wonderland of events and parties. Bring the family and even the dog or leave your car at home and party until dawn, the choice is yours. With Boston entering their 33rd annual First Night 2009 there is plenty to do for everyone. The City of Boston has gone the extra mile to accommodate all ages and cultures in order to bring the new year's eve 2009 celebrations to a new level. Starting with the First Night activities in the afternoon and ending whenever you choose, there is something for everyone in Boston's new year's eve 2009.

Boston was the first city to introduce the concept of new year's eve First Night and this year they have a varied and interesting selection of events to entertain the whole family. The FedEx Family Festival at the Hynes Convention Center has events all day. Starting at 1pm and continuing until 11pm the festival consists of family orientated performances like music, dance, face painting, puppet shows and art exhibitions. The new year's eve First Night Grand Procession leaves the Hynes Convention Center at 5.30pm and winds it's way to Boston Common. This magnificent parade is the centerpiece of Boston's new year's eve 2009 celebrations and is as impressive as it is artistic. At Boston Common, after the parade arrives, there will be a 12 minute firework display that promises to be magical. For more information visit the The FedEx Family Festival, The First Night Grand Procession and the firework pages at the First Night Boston website.

If you are single or leaving the kids at home then there are many ways you can spend your new year's eve 2009 in Boston. The First Night "Evening Program" is diverse and offers a little for everyone no matter your age or taste. Ranging from poetry reading to live rock music and including church services, African drum performances, art exhibitions and theater, there really is something for everyone. For more information visit the Evening Program page at First Night Boston website. As the night progresses and midnight approaches what better way to spend you new year's eve 2009 in Boston than taking a cruise of the harbor and watching the midnight firework display. Sponsored by the Boston Harbor association lasts 1 hour and leaves Boston harbor at 11.30.

If you are a little wilder and prefer to bring in the new year 2009 partying with friends then there are numerous options available. Dance the night away at the sophisticated Back Bay Gala at the Hyatt Regency Ballroom or rock to you drop at the Hard Rock Cafe. A full list of events happening in Boston on new year's eve 2009 check out club zone's new years eve listings. A good alternative if you are looking for a quieter and more intimate time is a dinner cruise. Dine, dance and experience the midnight fireworks at their very best as you cruise around Boston harbor. The best cruise seems to be the Spirit of Boston; information and tickets available at the Spirit of Boston website.

No matter how you choose to spend your new year's eve, Boston is a great city and is sure to have what you are looking for. Have yourself a happy holiday and a wonderful new year 2009.
