New Year's Eve 2009 Fireworks Displays in Maryland and Virginia

Who said the 4th of July is the only holiday to have fireworks. How about New Year's Eve? A Fireworks Display is a great way to celebrate the New Year. However, you're not a going to see a fireworks display in Downtown DC. I discovered that you have to travel out of DC city limits to find some of the best Fireworks display in the Baltimore/Washington Region. Here are a few to check out!

First Night Alexandria: Entering its 14th year, First Night Alexandria is a popular New Year's Eve event that provides a drug and alcohol free celebration. It has almost 30 venues of entertainment. At the stroke of midnight, a spectacular fireworks show welcomes the New Year at the George Washington Masonic Temple. This event starts at 6:00 p.m., and tickets are $12 with kids under 12 getting free admission. Some of the venues and spots to see the fireworks are close to the King Street Metro Station. In addition, there's a free trolley that takes you to the venues.

New Year's Annapolis: Celebrate New Year's Eve in Annapolis! New Year's Annapolis is a family safe New Years celebration featuring 10 venues of live entertainment. They have 2 fireworks display. The 1st display takes place at 7:30 p.m. for families and their children. Another fireworks display takes place at midnight to celebrate the dawn of a new year. Admission is an event button for $10, and VIP Button costs $40 with free admission for children under the age of 5.

Ports America New Years Eve Spectacular: Celebrate New Year's Eve in Charm City. The Baltimore Inner Harbor is the premier spot to bring in the New Year. From 9:00 p.m. to Midnight, you can enjoy dynamic live music and non-stop fun at the Inner Harbor Amphitheater located at Pratt and Light streets. In addition, party goers start the countdown to midnight as they witness an amazing fireworks show turning the sky over the Inner Harbor into a multitude of colors. The fireworks are choreographed to music. This glistening fireworks show is a presentation by Zambelli Internationale officially welcomes in the New Year. It's best to arrive early and use public transportation to get to your destination.

First Night Harrisonburg: Another Fireworks display for New Year's Eve takes place in Harrisonburg, VA. Part of the First Night Harrisonburg, The midnight Fireworks display takes place on Court Square at Midnight. It's just part of the family friendly festivities that starts at 3:00 p.m.
