New Year's Eve 2010 in Charlottesville: the 29th First Night Virginia Celebration

Charlottesville area residents don't have to road trip to Richmond or Washington D.C. to be part of happening New Year's Eve events. First Night Virginia is a fun New Year's celebration at the Downtown Mall that is centered around the arts. In fact, several bands from D.C. and Richmond will be performing in Charlottesville at the 29th year of First Night Virginia.

There will be music, comedy, laser shows, kid's activities and more.

Music Entertainment Line Up for First Night Virginia:

You can find music from a to z at First Night Virginia. For example, a is for the The Chris Adams band that plays pop with a country twist. Z is for Zipper, a band that plays modern rock.

Music lovers will find, country, pop, American Folk, bluegrass, rock and roll, Neo-Keltic Folk Rock, electric blues, world class flute and cello and Motown too.

Other First Night Virginia Activities include:

-Mini-dance lessons with professionals

-Shows by local and up and coming film makers

-Award winning storytellers

-Mike Nizer's live 3-D Show

New Year's Activities for Kids: KidsFest 2011

-Arts and crafts

-Face painting

-Jugglers

-Magicians

-Inlfatables

These KidFest 2011 activities are available at the Omni Ballroom from 3:00 to 6:00.

There's also a Kamp Kreatures life size puppets puppet show for kids at the First United Church's small sanctuary at 4:15 and 5:30.

New Year's Activities for Teens: Teen Extreme

Teen Extreme activities are extreme! Teens can expect a river slide, a mechanical bull and an awesome obstacle course. Children must be ten years of age to be admitted Teen Extreme.

Teen Extreme activities are being held in the Key Rec Center from 7:15 to 11:45.

The Countdown to Midnight Activities:

The Scintillation Fire Troupe will begin performing at the Downtown Mall at 11:30 on New Year's Eve. The Scintillation Fire Troupe is a Charlottesville based fire dance and fire feats performer. Following the Fire Troupe performance there will be a laser light show and ball drop at the First Night Virginia celebration at the Downtown Mall in Charlottesville.

Check out the First Night Virginia website you can donate, buy wristbands, see photos of past First Night Virginia celebrations and find the exact times and locations for all of your favorite bands. There's also a fun count down to midnight New Year's Eve ticker that shows the days, hours, minutes and seconds left until the New Year 2011.
