What's your mood for mix and mingle this New Year's? Tourist or local, single or family of five, one of the following activities planned in the Huntsville, Alabama area is bound to provide a fun and memorable occasion.

Special New Year's night out for singles and couples include:

Ketchup, at Bridge Street Town Centre, is a modern upscale diner featuring your favorite "kicked up" all American classic cuisine. New Year's Eve, the '80's and 90's cover band "Legs & Liquor" will be cranking tunes from 9pm til 2am. Party tickets run $50 to $1,500 depending on group size and amenities and can be purchased through Club Zone. When the festivities end, happily stroll over to the Centre's Westin Hotel to soak up their New Year's special that includes champagne, breakfast for 2 in Sage Grille and late checkout on the 1st.

Seeking a all in one hotel party package? Holiday Inn at Research Park offers two options. Choose a private party set to the live music of hotel night club Hopper's "Peter and the Wolf," along with dinner, midnight champagne, room, and breakfast for $225 per couple or enjoy DJ Steve Metz in Hopper's with the same amenities for $165 per couple. Individuals can attend the Hopper's party without the package for $25 per person.

Partiers that must move, must dance, should head Downtown to Sammy T's special event, featuring Black Eyed Susan and DJ Keibot, to herald the New Year in with party favors and champagne. Limo service is a part of every VIP package, bringing more pizazz to the evening and making it safer at the same time. Standard tickets are $15 per person or $25 per couple and VIP packages range from $299 to $1,499.

For a more mellow atmosphere and great steak & seafood dining, just a few doors down from Sammy T's, is Humphreys Bar & Grill . They will be featuring Ben Deignan & Suburban Soul on the patio New Year's Eve.

Family safe events include:

"An Irish New Years Eve." Enjoy a cultural melting pot of music, performed by Eileen Ivers, Irish fiddler, being held at the Von Braun Center, starting at 7:30pm. Cost of admissions run from $28 - $68, depending on seating. Tickets may be ordered through the Huntsville Symphony Orchestra. The HSO site reports Ms. Ivers' last concert was sold-out, so don't wait to purchase at the door.

Downtown, 801 Franklin features a special menu for New Year's, starting at 5pm, and live entertainment, starting at 8pm, by the Don Henderson Project. Dinner is $75 per person. Reservations are a must and may be made at 256.519.8019.

New Year's Eve is also the last day to tour the Galaxy of Lights Holiday Light Show at the Botanical Gardens. The 1.75 mile drive through their wonderland of animated Christmas scenes, animals and nursery rhymes is a must not miss holiday tradition. Hours are 5:30pm to 9pm and cost is $15 per car.
