New Year's Eve is always an exciting holiday on which we celebrate the end of the year and the fresh start of another one. Many of us enjoy hitting the town with friends, staying out late, and toasting with champagne at midnight. The ability to do his however can sometimes lessen once people have families and finances and focus change. Children can enjoy a safe and entertaining New Year's celebration with their families. Many New Year Events now cater to families and offer family oriented events, Michigan is not an exception. There are many family New Year events at several entertainment venues across the state but many in Grand Rapids and Kalamazoo.

The city of Kalamazoo will be having a New Year's Fest, which will take place in Bronson Park. Twenty-eight separate performers will be entertaining throughout the park. Admission can be obtained by purchasing admission buttons which grant admittance into all areas of the park. Buttons can be purchased in advance for five dollars, same day purchases will cost slightly more at seven dollars. Fest ivies begin at 5:30 PM and end at midnight with a free fireworks show. Fans of hockey will enjoy fun before and after a Grand Rapids Griffins game on the 31st of December at 6:00 PM. Pre-game give ways will involve free noisemakers and party favors to early arriving spectators. Live music will entertain the crowd before the game. Groups of 10 people or larger will receive a free five dollar concession ticket per each advanced game ticket purchased. A free ice skating session and indoor fireworks show will take place after the game.

Kalamazoo will also offer the Air Zoo, an educational museum style center with historically used aircraft and aviation history. Educational events and much more take place, on December 31st they will offer a "New Year's Around the World" from 9:00 am-5:00pm during which visitors will learn about the New Year holiday in seven other locations around the world. All will be able to take part in crafts and activities related to the cultures of seven different countries. Ticket prices vary from $ 13.18 to $ 16.58 per person. Children 4 and under are free. Those seeking more information visit airzoo.org.

Regardless of whether you and your family take part in any of these events a family oriented New Year's Eve can be most easily achieved by just spending time with your family that evening. Most families these days can't afford too much hustle and bustle for this holiday but whether you can or not count yourself lucky. Happy New Year.
