New Year's Eve is a time for celebrating with friends and family while saying goodbye to 2009 and ushering in 2010 and the new decade. The following events are for Parties and Events in the Northwestern, Gulf Coast and Panhandle areas of Florida. These events range from shows for families in church settings to activities for children to seniors on New Year's Eve 2009.

Good News United Methodist Church Prime Timers Celebration -

Good News UMC invites members of its congregation and locals 50 and older to enjoy themselves this New Years Eve while dancing to big band and oldies music. Bring your spouse or come to mingle with your friends and members of the community. The party starts on the 31st at 7PM and continues with food and dancing until after midnight on New Year's Day with a special toast at midnight.

Cost: Free, but you need to sign up ahead of time at the church or in the Good News Cafe.

Countdown SEASIDE! -

Celebrate New Year's Eve at Seaside with an evening of live music and fireworks to ring in 2010. Enjoy the music of Terrance Simien & The Zydeco Experience who will play until midnight on the main stage. The music starts at 7PM with the Memphis Blues from Delta Highway and the event ends at the stroke of midnight with a huge fireworks show over the Gulf of Mexico.

Mexico Beach and Port St. Joe New Years Celebration -

"Celebrate Safe - Celebrate Twice" is the theme of this years event. This is a fun New Years tradition both cities are happy to take part in because Mexico Beach and St. Joe Beach are in 2 different time zones. This means revelers can celebrate New Year's Eve twice! The Trolley downtown carries revelers between eastern & central time zones for free on New Years. Events start at 7PM and continue until 2AM. The party starts at St. Joe Beach and makes its way to Mexico Beach at Midnight.

Harborwalk Village New Year's Eve -

Harborwalk Village in Destin presents their New Year's Eve Village Bash with a ball drop and live musical entertainment at the center stage. The music starts at 8PM with drinks and food available for purchase all night. The city will be hosting a large fireworks display at midnight.

Cookies and Tea For Me! New Years Pajamapalooza -

Sleepover in the pink castle for an exciting all night pajama party. This event is for girls only in grades K-5. There will be fun activities and games for everyone. Dinner and breakfast will be served. The night starts at 6 p.m. on December 31st and goes until 9 a.m. on January 1st.

Club Rayn's New Year's Eve Party -

Come enjoy your New Years Eve with at one of Tallahassee's hottest clubs. Club Rayn will be having drink specials all night on New Year's Eve and you will receive party favors to dance your way into 2010. You will enjoy a variety of music from house, 80's and country music. The fun starts at 9PM on December 31st and goes until 2AM on New Year's Day.

    This is a great list, but there is one error. There is no Capital City Countdown in Tallahassee this year. There was a big article about it in their local newspaper this morning.
