A lot changes when you have kids....you start looking for things to do at home which usually means that you end up falling asleep before the big ball is dropped somewhere in Time's Square! Then the kids get older and they want to become part of the celebration. Well, here are some 'family friendly' activities in our area, which happens to be on the island of Oahu, that will get you all out of the house for a festive and fun way to bring in 2010!
Gala New Year's Eve Pupu and Dessert Cruise from Honolulu would be one way to celebrate the New Year! Albeit a little pricey; at approximately $150-200 per person, you get a 2 hour and 15 minute cruise from Honolulu. It includes a delightful display of pupu's (appetizers) and desserts. Dancing if desired and perfect positioning to view the festive fireworks display. It also includes round trip transportation from many of the Waikiki Hotels. This would be a great way for our visiting tourists to wind up their vacation to our beautiful island.
Wet and Wild is Oahu's only water park which has over 25 rides and attractions. The whole family can enjoy the day there for only $19.99 and by donating some of your old clothes to the Big Brothers/Sisters of Honolulu foundation. There will be live entertainment all day and then an incredible fireworks show to end the day and the year!
If you just want to enjoy a leisurely NYE you can go down to Honolulu to the Aloha Tower District. There is live entertainment, plenty of great dining in local restaurants and of course shopping! Many shops and fun things to keep you busy until the amazing fireworks display over the harbor. This is probably the best way for families and kids to bring in the New Year with no set price of admission. What you spend is totally up to you.
Going to see a movie on New Year's Eve is always a good family outing! You can hit an early show and then head towards the beach in most locations to see the fireworks. This is a good option if you prefer a less crowded, more casual time with your family and friends.
Whatever way you wish to bring in the New Year on Oahu, remember to be safe when saying good bye to 2009 and welcoming in 2010!

Good info, I didn't realize Honolulu had elaborate fireworks on New Year's. The cruise sounds super!
