New Year's Eve in Las Vegas - 2010

Celebrating the New Year in Sin City

Elizabeth Rose
If you can't be in New York to watch the huge ball drop, another crowded place full of New Years revelers is Las Vegas, Nevada.

There are two main parties going on in addition to the myriad of shows and parties at all the hotels and casinos.

Fremont Street Experience
Walk Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas to enjoy live entertainment on stage, casinos and a friendly environment. Fremont Street has a great line-up for your New Year's celebrating. The spectacular New Year's Eve includes live concerts by eight of the world's best tribute bands, a year-in-review show on the Viva Vision screen, followed by a countdown to midnight under the canopy choreographed to virtual fireworks on Viva Vision. The Fremont Street Tribute Palooza New Year's Eve Party opens at 6:00pm. Tickets cost $20.00 at the gate. More about the Fremont Street Experience.

America's Party: Las Vegas New Year 2011
This huge party on The Strip includes a spectacular fireworks show set off from the roofs of the MGM Grand, Aria, Planet Hollywood, Caesars Palace, Treasure Island, The Venetian and the Stratosphere. The Strip is closed to traffic at 6 pm and pedestrians will enjoy four miles of vehicle-free partying. Locals tell me that the hotels in this area stop letting people in around 11pm and then open once again at 12:30pm.

If you are going to party outside, remember to bundle up. The desert cools down at night.

Sounds like a great time! I'm hoping to be in Las Vegas for 2011-2012 New Years. Thanks for the tips!
