New Year's Eve Party Music for the Over 30 Crowd

Wren Andre
New Year's Eve is all about celebrating with friends and just having a great time. We don't want to dwell on last year's broken romances, lost stock options or foreclosed houses. It's time to party! Here is a list of 10 songs that will help you to dance, dance, dance your worries away, and bring in the New Year on a true high note:

1. Pink - Get the Party Started. Most of the tunes on this list will be ones your over 30 friends will remember from growing up. This is one of the couple newer songs to make this list for two reasons; it really WILL get your party started, and it rates at least a 9 on the booty shaker meter.

2. C & C Music Factory - Everybody Dance Now. Now that your party has started, this classic dance tune will keep it pumping.

3. Peter Gabriel - Big Time. Most people don't consider Peter Gabriel the big dance music king, but in the case of this song the infectious beat says otherwise. Try it - you'll like it!

4. Rocky Horror Picture Show - Let's Do the Time Warp. Unless you never left your house as a teenager or grew up in the middle of the ocean - you've probably humiliated yourself by doing the time warp at some point; no doubt while wearing women's undergarments (be you male or female).Your guests should be pretty warmed up by now, so it's a good time to throw in a group participation number.

5. Rick James - Super Freak. The perfect bookend to any song from the Rocky Horror Picture Show. Can also be danced while wearing female undergarments.

6. Relax (Don't Do It) - Frankie Goes to Hollywood. Ok - I swear that there will be no more freaky songs that require some form of cross-dressing. It's just that the beat to this 80's classic is so unrelenting!

7. Freezepop - Less Talk, More Rock. No - you probably haven't heard of this current dance band with a lead singer that does the chick singer in Human League proud. You will want to get to know more about this 21st Century synth band with 1980's dance grooves though after you party to this song.

8. Prince - 1999. Come on. As if this song wouldn't be on any New Year's Eve song list.

9. K.C. & the Sunshine Band - Shake Your Booty. The only song in history to hit a 10 1/2 on the booty shaker meter. I'm not exactly sure where this is documented, but I'm positive that it must be true.

10. Kool & the Gang - Celebrate. If you time this list right - this song will be playing full blast as midnight hits on New Year's Eve. It's a New Year and a new beginning - now that is definitely worth celebrating!
