It's time to plan your New Year's Eve party! But this year people are saving all the money they can and being more practical. A celebration setting the tone for the coming year includes good food, good friends and frugal finances.

Planning a party around these new standards and hope for the future is the perfect theme for any party. Everyone will be happy they can afford to join the fun without the high cost of something frivolous. A low stress level that includes families and children will bring friends, family, and strangers together in hope and dreams of a better future.

With a soup party you'll get the right balance of fun, food, and money saving grace affordable for you and your guest. It's easy and with the right planning you'll have the greatest party of the year and start a new tradition of holiday celebration.

Your party plan and food will include other guest. With guest offering their Crock Pot donations you can plan the soup list. You should have one creamy soup, one meaty stew, one light vegetable soup, and one pot of good old chili. Each soup is different from the rest and offers a good variety for everyone.

Offer a selection of breads and crackers, grated cheeses, chopped green onions, sour cream, and other toppings to complement the flavors of each soup. Have one large bowl of green salad as a side to the soups. It offers a cool taste to enjoy the hot taste of the soups.

Serve your soup in bowls from your cupboard or invest in very nice soup bowls from your local dollar store. A second way to invest in several very pretty and very different type of bowls is to search the thrift stores. It is an inexpensive way to add flair and colorful shapes to your party.

Since your are serving hot soups serve cool drinks such as soda, ice tea, milk, or iced coffee. The hot drinks will come later when you set out desert. Serve cool drinks in tall, iced glasses with multi color straws.

Desert will need to be a combination of light and sweet. Serve a selection of cookies, a good chocolate cake, and a fruit salad. Serve hot drinks such as cocoa, coffee, hot tea, and spiced cider. Your guest will be happy, full and fulfilled with hope of the future while still managing to celebrate on a budget.

As your final act of the evening ring in the new year with sparkling apple cider, sending your guest on their way sober from celebration and no regrets.
