New Year's Party Ideas and Games: Themes
Great places to start are the party themes for you New Year's bash! There are so many to choose from and all are sincerely great! First, decide who you are going to invite... chance are you know them pretty well. When you have them in mind it will be pretty easy to decide from there what the best theme is for your crowd.
- Garden Party
If you live on a nice piece of land this is a really good idea... or, if you live in the city, get your neighbor's permission to rip it for the New Year's party! Once you do, this theme can be spectacular. Light small fire pits and/or torches illuminating your gardens or other areas that look sweet at night. Buy some fire works and have speakers set up outside for music. There are several different things you can do outside. If you have a patio it can work well as a dance floor. If you have the equipment you can have a karaoke fest... the ideas are limitless. - Buffet Party
This is one of my favorites. This is a great way to make everyone happy. Pick a few of your best dishes. In my family homemade Chinese food and Mexican are favorites. Let's just say you chose to have a Mexican Fiesta for New Year's... you would need a large chafing dish of shredded pork, beef or chicken seasoned with a little spice (el Pato works wonderfully)- in another have prepared corn and flour tortillas, and a wide variety of veggies and toppings like sour cream, guacamole, and olives. Pick up, from your local party store, several cool party favors to go along with your theme. This way your guests can eat whenever they want throughout the night and no one gets restless. - Dessert Party
This is a great way to show off various desserts that have tickled your taste buds throughout the year and share them with friends and family. You can use this opportunity to make desserts from all around the world (or buy them)- you could even stick with cupcakes, pies and goodies of little effort- the plan is to have an inviting table with sweets of plenty.
New Year's Party Ideas and Games: Games
There are many cool games for teens that can be a hit at New Year's Eve parties. All you need is a little imagination and some eager guests to participate. Below are some old favorites that are always a real treat.
ยท Parties can be intimidating at first if you don't know everyone and if you do already know everyone it is fun to find things that have changed over the course of the year: Everyone writes down their first impressions of one another.
When guests arrive have someone tape an index card onto their back and give everyone a pen or pencil. Then, ask each guest to write their first impression (1-2 words only) to best describe that person on the card that is taped to their back.
When everyone has arrived and the comment writings die down have each guest read out their card. Now this is where it gets super fun- the person reading must figure out who said what. Trust me it pretty fun and can be hilarious.
- The time capsule is great fun for New Year's. Each person writes down and places mementos in their capsule then when everyone is through each guest tells of some events they care about from the year that is passing and what they hope the next year will bring. It is a good idea that makes each person know everyone else on a deeper level.
New Year's Party Ideas and Games: In Closing
There are so many great ideas when it comes to New Year's Eve. Some of the more popular and relatively easy to buy and plan for themes are usually Luau, Mardi gras, and Patriotic.
Regardless of your choices I am sure you will have a great time and may all of the New Year treasures hold for you the sweetest desires of your heart. Happy New Year!

I am looking for some fun games for teenagers to play at a New Years Eve party. They are all between the ages of thirteen and sixteen. Can you help?
I'll send these ideas to my sister for her daughters. Thanks for the tips, Manda!
I'm all for the dessert and buffet parties :) Yum :)
