New Year's Party - Non-Alcoholic Drinks

Ash
Every New Year's Eve Party probably needs a few designated drivers, and what if kids are taking part in the festivities? Here are some fun non-alcoholic drinks, perfect for any party.

An Evening Sun is a creamy, fruity drink. You will need:

- 1 ½ ounces light cream

- ¾ ounce banana juice

- 2 teaspoons grenadine

Shake all ingredients together in a mixer with ice and strain into a decorative glass.

For an extra special drink, serve your guests a Mint Tonic:

- peppermint leaves

- 2 teaspoons sugar syrup

- 2 ounces lemon juice

- 1 ½ ounces peppermint syrup

- tonic water

- lemon peel for garnish

Crush the peppermint leaves in a all glass with the sugar syrup. Add some ice cubes, the lemon juice, and peppermint syrup, then stir. Fill the glass with tonic water and then stir again. Garnish with lemon.

A simple drink, only requiring two ingredients is a Belfast Cooler. You will need:

- 1 ¾ ounces lemon juice

- ginger ale

Fill half a large glass with ice cubes, pour lemon juice into the glass and then top up with the ginger ale.

For a creamy drink, serve a Coco. You will need:

- 1 ½ ounces pineapple juice

- 1 ½ ounces light cream

- ¾ ounce cream of coconut

Hake all ingredients together in an ice filled mixer and then strain into a glass.

Just because you are serving non-alcoholic drinks, you can still make them extra special for your New Year's Eve party. A lot of the ingredients used in drinks can be used to make other drinks. Try to plan out your bar so you don't have to buy a bunch of ingredients that will only be used once.

All of these recipes and more can be found in Peter Bohrmann's book, The Bartender's Guide.
